After viewing the game with Samford, as you know we started with Reed and pulled him in the 1st half. Very limited reps. We did not have Reed drop 70 on them and get 800 yards and 5 more TDs to pad the stats.

However if this were week 2, most coaches would keep QB1 in and switch personnel around him in order to evaluate the other players for potential concepts and packages.

I remember the old B12 days where the first 3 games were OOC and then the back 9 were conference games. I have no problem playing 3-4 OOC games per season, but if its late in the year, its not a tune-up game its a functional bye. That has its merit, but its also detrimental in comparison to other QBs who played 60 minutes vs their cupcake in September.

Counterpoint: The Samford game will have absolutely zero impact on the Heisman race.

If we had played that game week two, Marcel would still have been out of the game after the first half. See Volunteers v ETSU!

Marcel is not winning the Heisman unless 4 things happen:

1. We beat the sips and he plays reasonably well;
2. We win the SECCG and he plays reasonably well;
3. One of Indiana or Ohio State drops a game before they play each other; and
4. The one of Indiana and Ohio State that lost a game beats the other one in the conference championship game.

I think the chance of all 4 of these things happening is about 10%. If either Ohio State or Indiana finishes unbeaten, that team's QB is winning the Heisman. In lieu of 3 and 4, I guess both Ohio State and Indiana could drop a game before they play, but that's even less likely to happen.

I have listened to Liucci say a few times now that he thinks Marcel wins it if we go undefeated and win the SECCG. I don't think that's correct. The media will not give it to him unless he's playing for the only undefeated team left. They desperately want to give it to one of the Big 10 QBs.

I think Marcel would be the runaway favorite if so many of his long runs weren't called back for holding

Should have been like UH the year Andre Ware won it and let him hang around into the fourth quarter to throw for 11 touchdowns and rush for 800 yard.

Some of Ware's greatest hits from 89:

30 of 48 passing for 380 yards and 5 passing TDs and 1 rushing TD in a 69-0 win over UNLV - he played into the 4th quarter in that one.

30 of 45 passing for 413 yards for 7 TD in a 65-7 win over Temple. Played into the 4th quarter despite them being up 55-0 after three quarters.

25 of 41 for 517 yards and 6 TD in the 95-21 win over SMU in their first year back in the conference. He threw 41 passes in the first half. SMU started 17 freshmen in that game.

Marcel is definitely being invited to NY for the Heisman but he will not win it regardless of what happens next with A&M.

The media hype train is behind Mendoza all the way 100% even if they lose a game.

Next year Marcel will be a favorite for Heisman.

I think Reed needs a win or big game Friday for the invite

Next years favorites will be Sayin & Wundermanning

He could have a Heisman moment this weekend by humiliating tu.
Mendoza is in the lead, but I don't mean **** anymore.
Too many big games are about to happen
