Before anyone ask, I'm not smart enough to post pics or links here, but his dad posted on Facebook about how proud he is and wants him to enjoy his last time to ever play at Kyle. I don't get it. He's good but he's not a first round draft pick. Why do we always have kids that leave too early and before they are ready.

What makes him "not ready"?

He won't become a first rounder with another year of college.

It's going to be mostly measurables impacting his draft stock. Not sure how much he can improve on those with one more year here.

If another year in college will not improve your sraft stock why stick around?

He's not going to get any better. Has significant downside in coverage. Probably play a couple of years and then go into coaching.

idk about coverage, but size & speed issues for sure.

He probably needs to weigh which year is the weaker LB year (this year or next) and aim for that year. If this is a deep year then his stock may drop.

Or make it look like he might leave in order to maximize NIL options.

Haha, there won't be any NIL bidding for York

Hopefully the Ags make a deep play off run
teams that make deep runs tend have more hype and more players declare

Maybe he is being told would be good to move on. Got some guys behind better

He was on the field for senior day with his parents.

Hope it works out for him, he definitely proved me wrong this year

3 year starter & 2 year captain... maybe he just wants to start the next chapter

& agreed he's got the makeup to be a great coach in the future

Because he may take a pay cut to go pro

Because you can make more in NIL than an undrafted fee agent.

I thought the same things Tyrel Dodson. He's on his 7th season in the NFL. Hope it works out for Taurean and will be rooting for him either way.

He'd be best off staying another year for the paycheck. Plus another great season would increase his draft stock, even if just a little.

Watching the guy out there sometimes directing traffic and positioning other players before the snap. I don't know what that's worth in the NFL, but he already looks like a coach on the field. If the league doesn't work out for him I sure hope to see him back on the sidelines as part of Elko's staff.

IMO, if Buddy Johnson couldn't make it as a regular in the NFL, I think it's unlikely York will. Kid plays with good instincts and effort but he's undersized, not particularly fast, and a liability in coverage (huge problem in this day and age). In the age of NIL, I would think York could do better financially by staying in school another year, but I also have no idea what a player like him gets paid.

NIL money can be better than NFL minimum

Min is like $800k. Doubt he makes near that much now

With proper management of NIL money can set you up for a decent life even if you spend just a free years in NFL

I works max out the NIL then go pro unless I was guaranteed a first round paycheck

Sports illustrated stated that Texas A&M players from 2024 to 2025 were paid 50.5 million

I'm not sure how many are getting paid or what proportions but I'm sure some are getting paid a pretty penny

Love York. He got the most out of his ability. But he'd be better off getting a few more hours of college credit, make some NIL money, and maybe looking to going up a coaching route.

Sure give the NFL a shot later. But I see him making a squad like 5% shot at best. Practice squad would even be a surprise for me.

You have to make the active roster to get minimum. Practice squad pays $13K weekly (18 weeks= $234K max)

Career mistake if he does imo. Not because of NFL prospects one way or another but to get degree , become grad assistant and work your way up the coaching ranks . You know many of these good college players dreams are to play in the NFL but you have to be realistic . Then again I could be wrong so he has to go the direction his heart leads him.

Based on all the experts here who think it's a mistake... Sounds like a great decision for him to turn pro.

Another season won't give him the speed he's gonna need to really get the pro scouts attention

If he sticks w football for a career, it's likely on the coaching side of it

Crownover is a graduate, his return this year was not a foregone conclusion. York is a true junior, so it is 100% out of the norm for him to participate in Senior Day

The guy's only been our leading tackler here since practically his freshman year. He's clearly the leader of our defense. Why wouldn't we get him NIL money if he wanted to stay?
