Thursday night, November 28, 1985; Jackie Sherrill celebrated his 42nd birthday with a 42-10 win over tu, and #42 Ira Valentine scored the td that put the final points on the board.

perhaps more symmetry...

when the Ags were #2 late in the season in 1975...the team blocking them from #1 was Ohio State

I was there. Someday I hope to shake Mr. Flowers' hand and thank him for saving my son's life.

I love the ***** ass tu quarterback backing off because of crowd noise several times only to get buried by the Wrecking Crew.
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.

What a day. Previous year (in what should have been a breakthrough year, but a ridiculous loss to a bad SMU team the week prior) We fumble the first series, may have been the first play and were down 17-0 pretty much instantaneously. We'd also fumbled very early, first series I think, in '73.

So first play in '75 is Woodard up the middle for a couple of yards, but no fumble. Next play was a sweep to the right and white jerseys with orange numbers were swarming to the play. Then it's Carl Roaches on an end around with a maroon wall leading the way. 50-ish yard gain and we never looked back.

fifteen seconds in. First play on the video, was second play of the game.

Fun to watch 50 yrs later. Surprised the hit by Thomas on Akins wasn't on the reel.

My memory was Garth TenNapel took Akins out.
Could be wrong. It was 50 years ago. I was a fish in the FTAB. Most people remember Akins getting knocked out of the game but forget Mike Jay,TAMU QB, hurt his back and had to leave the game. Jay wasn't able to play vs Ark or USC as I recall. David Shipman split time at QB but by the end on November, Jay ran the wishbone best.
My favorite Aggie team because I was a student.

This year's version doesn't have the defense the '75 team had but the offense is light years better than the Wishbone. Sign of the times.

I recall the 76 game too. The third deck didn't get finished in time for the game so they crafted stair rails from 2x4s on the ends and packed em in. We won 13-7 knocking them out of the Cotton Bowl, sending them to the Sun Bowl.

I guess all us old guys memories are getting fuzzy. I remember Jackie Williams beautifully hitting Akins right at the knees.
