The article calls out that we have the resume to be #1 and it's bonkers we're not. While I agree, the problem I think we have is that #1 Ohio State has proven they can play at a high level even if their current competition is garbage and #2 Indiana is this year's Cinderella Story. Putting us any higher in the polls means knocking the others down, and then all the talking heads will be left trying to call out the reason(s) why (which we all know but no one with a microphone will say).

ChatGPT summary for lazy (like me):

Written by Chris Wright and published Nov 9, 2025, the article lists 10 overreactions (in a tongue-in-cheek but earnest way) after Week 11 of SEC football.
Some key points include:
  • The author argues that the SEC's playoff picture is in flux and that some narratives are already emerging (and maybe being over-blown).
  • One major theme: how willing the conference is to fire coaches (or already is) in 2025 e.g., says the SEC may break its record for most coaches fired.
  • Another major theme: how the playoff-selection process is evolving, and whether automatic bids, strength of schedule, and conference bias matter.
  • He lists his top 5 SEC teams that "deserve" to make the playoff (after Week 11) and argues for how the rankings should move.
  • Throughout, he throws in commentary about specific teams (e.g., Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs) and what he believes those teams haven't done yet.
  • The tone emphasizes that while these are "overreactions," they reflect what jumps out immediately after Week 11 and may or may not hold up long-term.
What it says about Texas A&M
Here's what the article specifically says about the Texas A&M Aggies:
  • The Aggies are listed #10 in his list of things he's overreacting to: "Texas A&M deserves to be No. 1".
  • He argues that after their win at No. 19 Missouri, Texas A&M improved to 3-0 against ranked teams, and all three wins came on the road.
  • He highlights specific performances: backup running-back turned threat Rueben Owens had a 100-yard game with a 57-yard big run; quarterback Marcel Reed passed for 221 yards and 2 TDs (and ran enough to keep safeties honest); and the transfer KC Concepcion is padding his case as the SEC's most valuable transfer.
  • Because of these, the author argues Texas A&M "at minimum … deserves to move up to No. 2 in Sunday's AP Poll … and in Tuesday's Round 2 of the Playoff rankings."
  • He notes that Texas A&M hasn't been ranked No. 2 in the AP Poll since 1975, and hasn't been No. 1 since 1957 under Bear Bryant so the moment is potentially historic.
  • In his "Predicting the SEC's 5 Playoff teams after Week 11" section, he lists Texas A&M as #1 in his own projection of deserving teams.
  • He also mentions in the intro that Texas A&M needs to do what he phrased "in the polls …" implying they need to keep delivering to match rising expectations.
So, in short: the article sees Texas A&M as the most impressive SEC team after Week 11 (at least in this writer's view), given its resume, road wins, key player performances, and upward trajectory.

Texas A&M deserves to be No. 1
It doesn't matter who's No. 1 and probably won't matter until we get to the Playoff semifinals, but if the Playoff Selection Committee truly is living in the moment and starting anew each week, there's zero debate about which contender was the most impressive in Week 11.
The Aggies improved to 3-0 against ranked teams with an emphatic beatdown at No. 19 Mizzou and all 3 of those wins were on the road.
Nobody else in the country has a resume even remotely close to that. No. 1 Ohio State is 2-0 vs. ranked teams but only 1-0 on the road. Ditto No. 2 Indiana, which was fortunate to survive Week 11 unscathed.

The Aggies again were without Le'Veon Moss, and it didn't matter. Backup-turned-emerging-threat Rueben Owens ripped off a 100-yard game and scored twice, once on a 57-yard sprint through the heart of Mizzou's line. Marcel Reed did Marcel Reed things (221 yards passing and 2 TDs, just enough rushing to keep safeties peeking). KC Concepcion continues to pad his case as the SEC's MVT: Most Valuable Transfer.
At minimum, Texas A&M deserves to move up to No. 2 in Sunday's AP Poll and in Tuesday's Round 2 of the Playoff rankings. They haven't been No. 2 in the AP Poll since 1975. They haven't been No. 1 since 1957 with Bear Bryant. They haven't finished No. 1 since 1939.
This team has the pieces to write its own history.
I don't need to convince Mike Elko.

"I think they know what they want, and we got great leadership," Elko told reporters. "We got great players out here and we are going to go finish things the right way."

Until A&M wins something, no respect will be given. Time for A&M to take what they want.

But yet there sits Indiana @ #2, having won nothing.

It's odd how the Hoosiers seem to be reaping the benefits of a big road win in Eugene more than A&M with its big road win in South Bend.

Not really. Oregon is a one loss team, and they beat them halfway through the season. ND was coming off another loss and we beat them early. Recency bias and the lack of a second loss make their Oregon win look better.

When we go into Austin and lay the wood to t.u., there is a direct comparison with OSU, except we did it in Austin, they beat them at home. After that, we will sit at #1. Until that happens, we will continue to be underrated, and that is fine. Rise to the challenge, and let the rest sort themselves out.

Oregon is overrated and would lose to Notre Dame. Winning in South Bend is still a bigger deal than winning in Eugene.

Farmer already beat him to it. The speed of A-hole is very fast!

I wasn't linking that solely for the Ag angle; I was kind of surprised that I agreed with him on so many other points too, and i thought they were interesting reads.
