Here is where we are currently.
Reed is a Soph and doing well so will play next year also and I think he will move to the draft. He will not play his Sr year.
Zeno is a Sr and from the portal, he will be gone next year and not get any playing time.
Miles O'Neill is a 4* Freshman.
Brady Hart is also a 4* FR
Morcos is a 3* FR and will likely transfer out.
Helaman Casuga is class of 2026 and is a 4* QB.

No 5* QBs in the pipeline but then we have not been lucky with those.

IF we get a 5* 2027 QB which is not out of the question with how we are playing this year we could have a dilemma at QB on who to start. Upperclassmen who have waited their turn or the hotshot redshirt or true freshman???

Worrying about next year is irrelevant in today's college football landscape.

Reed is eligible for the draft after this season, and if he ends the year as a top 3 hesiman candidate, we have to admit that he will consider the draft. Guys like Ewers may serve as examples of why he should use another year of eligibility, as Beck is doing. Or maybe he sees Drew Allar and wants to get to the pros ASAP. I think if Klein is to take a HC job after this year (good for him if he does), that might make the draft more appealing for Reed.

But even if we lose Reed and even if our current roster doesn't have an elite replacement, it won't be hard to grab great talent out of the portal if they can come stay clean behind this OL and feed the ball to Craver and ABR.

Being a coaches son and as level headed as he seems to be I don't think he would jump so soon. Would be surprised. Need to see more of O'Neil and Casuga's college game to know what we really have. Still unknown commodities for what we need out of a QB at this point of our trajectory. .

We have Jace Johnson, high 4* possible 5* committed for the 2025 class. He is supposed to be the prototypical QB for Klein's system. I think well be fine.

Your graphic didn't specify, but I think it's important to point out that Miles is RS Fresh (2nd yr in program with 3 yrs of eligibility after this year) and Brady is a true Freshman that is being RS'd this year - has 4 years left.

There is no telling out of O'Neil, Hart or Casuga (or someone not yet identified) which will emerge as the starter in 2027, assuming Reed is still the starter in 2026. Jace Johnson (2027 recruit) may be proto typical to Klein's scheme, but Klein may not even be here by 2027.

At our level currently, we will snag a transfer once Reed is drafted and leaves. That's the reality of college football today.

2027*

And Klein is likely gone well before Jayce sees a snap here. Not that he wouldn't be good in the next OC's system.

I don't think you can do much more that project one year out these days, and even that is shaky.

I THINK you are right that Reed will stick with us one more year, and I would agree that's probably it for him. If he finishes this year solid, he'd be at the top of Heisman lists going into next year.

Will Oneil wait another year? If so, we look really good for the next two years.

Injuries, transfers, recruits... we have seen this enough to know that the way things look today could look completely different in an instant.

looks like, unless you have JF like innate talent

most QB out high schools need significant development like Reed...

A&M in house training of QB may be more important than spotting raw talent and relying on industry star rating?

being top 3 Heisman doesn't at all alter his draft grade and shouldn't change his decision

Sure, I agree. And I bet almost every A&M football player who was eligible for the draft after a great season has agreed with that take, too. Right? RIGHT??????

I don't really see Reed as a NFL guy and I think we have him as long as we are the high bidder.

He only weighs 180, isn't very accurate, and has a little bit of a slow release. Really good college QB, but I think as long as we NIL him 4 million a year he will make more in college than in the pros.

If I remember correctly, Brady Hart was a top 100 rated guy before he reclassified. If he was still in HS would be a highly rated recruit, above our current recruit. Hopefully he has put on some muscle, but would love to see how he has developed. Still not sure about Miles. A low 4, high 3* recruit that people love based on size and film in passing drills. I think he had a mediocre offer list.

I'd like to see him go to the Rams. Fine OL, good run game, good coaching, oh and Puka

We just offered Lagway's brother. Wouldn't be surprised to see us make another run at him if Reed decides to go pro.

If Reed is playing that well that he's considered a high draft pick I honestly would not be shocked if we offer to match his draft money to come back for a senior year. I think that's where college football is at these days.

I would 1000000% be okay with our money going to a proven elite QB versus any other thing even including a coach.

I'll do you one better. QB Casuga can run as good as Reed, is thicker so less likely to get injured, and can throw better than Reed. He's our next elite QB recruit enrolling early this January.

Haven't seen all of the new guys.

Have seen some of O'Neil. High level arm talent and great size, but in very limited snaps, he's been skittish in the pocket. Certainly could be cured with reps if he's got the right mental talent for the job.

Have seen some of Morcos as well. He's athletic and has a very easy throwing motion where the ball comes off his hand really nice. From what I saw, he was very accurate and moved really well. When I saw him, the teams Lake Creek was playing were over-matched, so didn't see Morcos under much stress or pressure.

He still needs to demonstrate he can read defenses and make good decisions at the college level. If so he has the potential to be a beast.

Go ask your favorite AI "How many 180 lb QB's have there been in the NFL in the past 10 years?"

Hint: Marcel needs to give his body at least one more year to develop……

Sure, but I cannot emphasize how many times in the last 10 years that a player has foregone NCAA eligibility to go to the draft when all of TexAgs, including myself, says to not to.

All I said is that we have to admit that he will consider the draft. If he's in New York for the heisman, he will undoubtedly have to at least consider the NFL as an option. That's all I'm saying.
