In 2025, only a few teams garner respect to beat... last week's win against Arkansas goes to show that they clearly arent respected inside or outside of this league.

So, with that rationale, we need to beat the following for respect:

ND - on the road - Done
Florida - at home - even down its a respect game - Done
LSU - pending - this week
tu - pending - they are going down this year
Ole Miss - Dont play
Bama - Dont play
GA - Dont play
OU- Dont play
other ranked schools - Big10, ACC, etc - Dont play

Wins with no respect:

Mizzou (we didn't get any respect after whipping them last year)
Ms State
Auburn
South Carolina
Samford
UTSA
Utah State

By these metrics we only play (4) potential games that we gain respect in - 2 already won, 2 pending (LSU, Texas). We need to make the most from those wins, take advantage of those games, and losses to the rest could be considered (overlooked, letdown week, etc).

None of that matters in today's college football. Getting into the playoffs and winning games is what matters now.

Respect is cool and all, but 10+ win seasons are cooler. Maybe lets do that and then worry about what everyone else thinks.

Which is why on multiple threads I have said 10-2 may or may not get is in the playoff

Definitely want the BDF to be a one bid league and Personally 9-3 ND IMO would be good thing
Go Pitt probably there most difficult game still on the schedule

2025 Resume College Football Power Index - ESPN

#1 in College Football Power Index. That should be respect enough.

We'll get respect if we walk into death valley and over power corn dog. I don't even think we have to win big, just control the game. Particularly the lines of scrimmage.

I consider any wins over Auburn to be great wins

in many circles they are considered a blue blood / helmet school

If they have won a national title in the last 30 years, I say that is a good win. Auburn and Florida may be down this year but they are still very talented. So is lsu and tu.

Mizzou is the best team we'll play this season. I'll be an Elko believer if we beat them.

Disagree. We're on the precipice this weekend. 25+ years of disappointment, but this year feels different for some reason You gotta believe at some time brutha. Why not now?

So if we go 11-1 with a loss to Mizzou you wouldn't be a believer?

We might squeak into the playoffs if we get to 12-0

Everyone is looking for an excuse to send us into a free fall in the rankings.

Every week we are the #1 choice for the upset.

They have discredited every win despite picking us to lose.

I have a bad feeling that a 2 loss A&M team would not make the playoffs. Need to win 2 out of 3 of these remaining road games.

Missouri's toughest remaining game is A&M - although at Vandy and at Oklahoma look pretty tough too. They have a good shot at finishing 10-2. I think if we beat them, that will be looked at as a good win and we'll get some credit for that.

It makes sense with how we played against Auburn, MS State and Arkansas. We have found ways to win, unlike past teams, but any of those games could have gone the other way.

I watched the Missouri = Alabama game week before last.

Missouri is fierce at least at home. A win there should bring some respect with it.

Respect is earned.
Lets beat some good teams, on the road, instead of laying turds.
Respect will come if we finally win more than a couple big games here & there.

Why are we playing a school like Samford? I had to look it up. It's one thing to play FCS schools from in state, but a top-tier program should actively seek other top-tier programs to play against. Even if that puts the won/loss record at risk, even if it means one less home game. The greater the challenge make the victory even sweeter.

Not me because he'll get mad. It's the same reason his mother did what she did…for the money.
