Since joining the SEC, every year we lose games we should have won. We can beat BAMA or LSU, then inexplicably drop games to MSST or a team that is struggling.
This year we have put away those teams, with just SC left. Mizz, LSU, and tu are all road games with a mix of goodish teams and high talent teams that struggle.
What Im getting at is that in years past, we would likely be 6-1 or 5-2 with this schedule. But the team continues to show grit and end up with the W. Do I like our defense getting gashed, no. But it happens.
Its interesting that no one really cares about the level of play after a few weeks. We arent looking back to the Auburn game and saying we are a standadd 8-4 Aggie team, we are who our record says we are. We got the W, they didn't. The record book doesnt care that Arkansas almost beat us.
Saban had plenty of seasons where SEC teams came close, but no one remembers those games, they just remember the 12-0 or 11-1 and a NC. The scoreboard doesnt lie. Moral victory narratives for losers are gay, but immoral victory narratives for winners is just pathetic. Your victory is a matter of record, and no amount of hemming or hawwing about this game will matter in a few weeks in your own mind. So why continue with it now?
We have LSU next and its probably the biggest game to define our regular season success. Some of you could fall into a barrel of tits and come out complaining there werent any chicken nuggies in the barrel.
