I was there.

Perhaps one of the most memorable plays by an opponent in our history

My zip year.
We lost as many games that year as we had in the previous three combined.

We beat SMU at home.

Terrible game.

I THINK he's referring to the Tech game.
SMU was our 5th game but we'd had a bye after LSU that year so week 5 was the Tech game.

Figured that out!

Wrecking Crew blasted Tech QB Sonny Cavazos, forcing a fumble that the Crew returned for a TD. Ags went up 14-7.

Refs ruled that Cavazos was down even though Cavazos was standing almost completely upright when he was hit and fumbled.

So, no TD.

The Ags, desperate to avoid a tie in the pre-OT era, made a desperate throw on offense that was intercepted and returned for a TD. Tech "won" the game as a result of the poor call on Cavazos' fumble.

We had two or three touchdowns called back by the refs on phantom calls.

And then Zach Thomas had the play that made him famous.

If you listen to tech people talk about that play it really just comes down to one player having a pro football mindset. He wasn't even supposed to be playing that side of the field, he made that adjustment himself because of down and distance and knew where the ball was going due to consistent/ predictable play calling

I was 23 and had my first job in Lima, OH. My parents were visiting, and we were struggling to listen to the game on WWL shortwave radio. I know we lost, but that's all I remember.

Vedder is right. Replay clearly showed the ball on the ground and QB was no where even close to down…hell, I don't even know if his knees were bent. Terrible call

Just FYI, the game wasn't televised.
Perhaps you mean the taped highlights we all saw later?

In 1995, I had DirecTV w/ESPN GamePlan and SportsPass (Sunshine Network from FL showed the SWC Raycom game of the week). I'd have been watching had that game been on TV. As it was I was listening on a shortwave radio.

I will admit to thinking that, given the crapton of shat that went against us that day, playing it close to the vest at the end and getting out of there with a draw wouldn't have been the worst thing. Our winning streak in conference had already been snapped by the embarrassing tie against SMU the previous year (they were 1-9-1 in '94) and the MNC hopes had pretty much been squashed by the Colorado loss.

30 years ago now...talk about time flying.

10 years old listening on the radio in my dads truck. After the Zach Thonas interception, turning to dad and asking, "is it really over?"

It was first memory of the Ags losing back to back games. Unfortunately, being a student during the Fran era. I'd given my left arm for a season as good as '95 in retrospect.

Y'all are forgetting some of the other travesties. Total screw job from start to finish.

7:32 First Zebby Lethridge fumble. Real time and especially replay shows he's nowhere close to being down. A&M recovers on the Tech 32 yard line...negated by officials.

1:25:35 Further evidence of the officials' screw job.....err, I mean "incompetence", we have this alleged punt catch interference:

2:36:18 Second questionable Lethridge fumble, not as egregious as the first.

2:38:05 Sone Cavasos fumbles, ruled down while standing vertical. Aggie scoop and score negated. Insane. Even the TV announcers join in the dumbassery, not knowing the defense CAN advance fumbles in college ball since 1992.

OP here.

I am not referring to the Tech game. Week 5, not game 5.

I will elaborate after the game tonight for those that don't know.I cannot risk any bad juju.

Against better judgement, watched those videos. You could had better officiating if you picked up a bunch of drunks at the bar. Just awful!

Complicated it ain't. When you DON'T have overwhelming superiority & innovation on your side, which is very rare in CFB, off-field factors, from officiation to conference scheduling to uneven enforcement & penalization by the NCAA, dwarf actual differences in talent, coaching, and execution.

sip and ESPN figured this out long ago. Meanwhile we flagellate ourselves nonstop for even daring to consider that officiation might be systematically tilted against us.

Was standing against the wall at that crap stadium on that end when no-neck intercepted and told my then new wife, "keep your head down and we are walking fast right down the ramp and into the parking lot to the car"

We were pelted with all kinds of things on the way out.

I had to laugh extra hard on the second video when the Tech punt returner makes the fair catch ending the play, drops the ball to the ground, and has already taken several steps toward getting off the field when the flag comes flying into the picture from the neighboring county.

Tech game was Week 5, Game 4.
If you're talking about the SMU game, that's Week 6, Game 5. We beat SMU with a Hail Mary at Kyle.
If you're talking about Colorado, that was Week 4, Game 3.

We were undefeated and ranked #3 heading into Boulder against #7 Colorado.

That game was my first Aggie heartbreak.

Take care of business and we will be the highest we've been ranked in my lifetime.
Hank the Grifter

Weird. Wikipedia doesn't make any mention of those two early games. These days those would be considered "Week 0".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_NCAA_Division_I-A_football_season

Regardless, #7 is a long way from unranked.

Yeah, we need to be ready to play every game but I don't see much of a comparison to that CU game and this Arkie game.

The point is, which I am trying to avoid jinxing, is that with a win today, we will be ranked as high as we have in my lifetime, and as high as we have since joining the Big 12 or the SEC.

Not necessarily saying we are facing the same type of game. But certainly similar implications.

We will get everyone's best game from here on out. Even a dejected LSU.

Notice that the referee standing right behind the quarterback throws his fumble marker. He was about 15 feet away and had the perfect view, and reacted in real time by ruling it a fumble. Yet somehow the call is changed in tards' favor.

That play would've ended the game 14-7 Ags win and many Ag fans would not have been physically assaulted after the game.
