He may have, but staying only one year doesn't prove a system. He was gifted the best OL A&M has ever had and Manziel + some special receivers.

Credit to him for making it work but a flash in the pan is just that if they don't stay long enough for us to get a true sample.

Ever is a long time. Best defensive coaching I remember is when RC Slocum was DC under Jackie Sherrill. We were brutally physical for 60 minutes, and people feared playing us.

Bunk, while yeah ok true in some ways about KK... His offense was in fact better than we have now by a wide margin.

We are 8th? i think or maybe 7th in scoring offense in the SEC alone rn

This team hasn't had their fastball so far yet in SEC play. Yet they have more than doubled the opponents offensive output each time. They rushed for 300 tonight without their best rb most of the game. Add in SEC opponents have converted 1 of 25 3rd and 4th downs and you have a recipe for a "flawed" team to win a bunch of football games.

kk had a heisman qb, top notch o-line, hall of fame receiver, and a burner in swopes. Jff admitted he couldnt read a playbook and skipped qb meetings. kk might get too much credit.

I'm not trying to make a big thing of this conversation. I'm just saying he walked into a loaded and perfect situation for him. And he succeeded. We never got to know what the KK offense would have been over a period of time.

Apples to oranges. How much more scoring would we have now if Reed could hit a deep ball or run circles around defenders without fear? Just crazy what Johnny did as normal to what we see now and he did it hung over most of the time. No one has come close in college football.

Kk gets a ton of credit. He was smart enough to let him do his thing.

Slocum had the #1 defense in the country back in '91-'92 with Bob Davie as the defensive coordinator.

Yeah, people saying this is the best D ever are clearly too young to have experienced the original Wrecking Crew in 80's and early 90's.

Our pass D against Auburn and USC last year was nauseating. I'm happy Elko stepped up and took charge. Last two weeks were stunningly good. We are really close on offense. Love the crossing routes and basics of a running game. Short yardage really concerns me. However, no team is perfect.

Nah. But they are looking good.

Let's see how good they are against good teams.

I have no doubt we have future head coaches on Elko's staff, probably after this season.

Klein but I don't think he's ready just yet.

Best O coaching?! Not by a mile. Klein has taken Reed's best weapon away from him: his legs.

And his play calling is dumbfounding at critical times and is going to lose us a game.

We beat Florida handily next week. . .I'm a believer in our offense and defense!

OP is 12 years old or less…

Our offense in 2012 and 13 was unstoppable.

And the defense in 1991 played with a level of brutality that would have them all arrested if they had to play with our modern candyazz rules.

OP didn't say the "best offense" we've ever had... These coaches are only 18 games in, but it obvious they're building a program that's heading in that direction..

I think 75 and 91 were both season we finished #1 nationally in total defense

Seems a little dramatic. A&M historically has been a defense first team. Since Jackie we have been solid to bad at offense with sadly more bad than solid. Our offense deteriorated dramatically over the Slocum years and declined more with Fran and Sherman. The only exception is the Johnny football years where we were explosive on offense and ironically shaky on defense. So it wouldn't take much to be near the top but 2012 was the best I've seen in my lifetime. Our offense today is not close to 2012 but solid and our defense is light years better than the 2012 version.

Anyone who CONTINUES to put our QB in the SHOT GUN on 4th down and a yard is NOT the best offensive coach we've had. It's full blown re tarded.

This. It's hard to say KK was amazing when he walked into an O-line stocked with first and second round picks, one of the best wide receivers to ever play the game, and arguably the greatest college QB of all time. He was a great coordinator, but any system is going to look phenomenal with that kind of talent.

And that one thing is everyone is going to fight you.

Any coach that needs 1 yard and has his QB in shotgun handing off the ball 4 yards deep will never win with me. I do like the exotic motioning and trying to spread the defense out. WR deep crossing and flag routes are good also with th WRs getting separation.

KK offense with Johnny was pretty much "street ball". It worked because we had enough weapons to do it, but that wasn't a typical KK offense.

I don't know about ever with some of the coaching we had between 1984 and 1998, but yeah, this is the best we've had in recent memory.
