He acts as the QB coach and OC. No progression from our QB and offense is struggling.
Probably has to lose one first…

Couldn't agree more. Constantly holds our offense down with awful calls. Reed has helped him out tonight. Needs to know how to use his talents better.

Hot take, Klein has schemed up a high powered offense this season, and it's been terribly undercut by poor qb play. If we're judging him on calls inside the five, fire him, but that's not the totality of the job.

Does Reed have the option to pull the hand offs?! If No, fire Klein. If yes, Reed needs to make better decisions there

I see a great play caller coaching a qb that can't hit a school bus downfield, and an oline full of seniors that commit non stop penalties

I wonder if Klein keeps calling the deep ball because he's trying to force Marcel to get comfortable with it.

Yea for sure

We could line up & pound miss st & win the game, but we've got to be able to stretch more physical defenses

Klein is first rate, Marcel has a ways to go but plenty of natural ability to get there

It's not just play calls inside the five although running 4 consecutive up the A gap when each previous attempt netted zero gain is suspect. What's worse on that 4 play call on the goal line, our TE was wide open in the end zone. Not even covered. But the call was the send it up the A gap (again).

Other suspect calls, on two different occasions of a critical 3rd and 9 when all we needed was nine yards, Kline calls for the long ball even though Reeds accuracy on long balls during this game and the previous four games we have played have been very inaccurate. And of course on those two 3rd and 9 plays on the long ball they were both overthrown.

This is not play calling that is going to win us critical SEC games.

Yes I'm pretty sure they viewed this game as an opportunity to develop that aspect. Real game experience + real game film to review.. I wouldn't be shocked if they even told the whole team to expect some high-risk series to start the game (and not get bent out of shape about it).

If you keep calling the deep ball defenses have to respect it, and they know we have a couple of receivers that can torch coverages.

Reed only has to hit it every now and then for it to be effective.

Your ridiculous Reed is part holding this offense back he needs to settle down like he finally did in second half

Did you stop for a second and consider that maybe the TE was running a route because it was an RPO and Reed made a terrible read? Because that's a more likely scenario than a predetermined A gap run also having two routes into the flat.

Yep 87 was wide open and had the look of where is the football. That 4th down play was a total RPO that Reed misread. He is misreading a bunch of them this year. That needs to be a question to Elko on the why Marcel is having such a hard time in the RPO game. Also Reed constantly looks deep and stays deep. Lots of easy throws underneath that are open. Manning is doing the same at Texas

Did Op happen to notice the 2nd half adjustments where we were running WR jet sweeps and mid range outs to spread them out and set them up to get gashed for 299 yds rushing?

We outadjusted them severely at half on both sides of the ball

#22 Offense in the nation and improving. Frustrating 3rd down and 4th down play calls sometimes but overall I love the job Klein is doing.

Said this the other day and agree.

Our offense is perfectly built to take the easy, 5-6 yard play because Moss, Ownes, Craver or Concepcion can all turn that play in to a huge gain or TD.

Marcel needs to take the easy 5 yards vs holding out for the 50 yarder.

If he can start doing that, I think the big plays will naturally show up, but we'll also stay more consistently on schedule.

The good news, IMO, is that is a much easier "fix" than having to fix anything mechanics related - just get him to settle down and take what's easy.

Huh? If the TE was wide open on a play with zero intent to pass then the TE was not doing his job. If it was RPO then Reed missed him and that has nothing to do with the play call.

Also, for this offense to play at an elite level, they (Reed) have to figure out the deep ball.

Ill not use the word great for play calling at this point but to say he should be fired is rediculous if you are watching the games. Reed is struggling in some, not all, areas. The penalties are massive. Clean those up and the coaches will be on every award watch list there is.

Penalties have killed more drives than anything. Hard to get into a rhythm calling okays when you face a 1st and 20 or 2nd and 15 every other drive.
