none of this shoud come as a huge surprise. we have consistently recruited in th top 10-15 for many years while compiling two top 5 finishes in the last 65 years. if we actually start winning it will be an avalanche.

Yes, it would be so great if we could find a way to not Aggie it up.

Get great recruits and actually coach them to be even better.

Put BAS to sleep.

Keep from collapsing when people start looking at us.

Not believe the press.

Not listen to social media.

Grow a championship culture.

Not listen to Taxags knee-jerk doomsayers who start predicting a loss after one bad series or one bad quarter.

Kick internet trolls in the crotch.

Not buy in to Swagcopters, WRTS nonsense, and runaway false bravado.

You know.

The regular stuff.

Go Ags!

Flip it around.

I am amazed how we are a top team in recruiting year after year but end up with mediocre results and continue to recruit at a high level. Top Recruits should actually be running away from us.

This is a great point to make. You are a true Aggie. Clearly you attended Texas A&M and believe in the school and all the traditions.

I am not surprised that Rivals and The Fong have been posting a lot about the Aggies lately. We have continued to recruit in the top 10-15 class in most years, despite losing 4+ games in 24 of the last 26 years. Hopefully, Elko can retain and develop most of his recruits, prevent late-season collapses, and establish a championship caliber culture.

Thats not how money works...for most people anyway.
Nothing looks more foolish than tradition to those who have none.

Not sure if you were complementing me or taunting me sarcastically but I will take it in a positive sense.

Clearly we have under-achieved as a football school considering the resources, reputation, fanbase, interest levels etc. No MNC since 1939 is bad and we haven't come close either in the last few decades. So if I am a top recruit and looking for a school, I would likely want to go to Alabama (in Saban's time) than A&M. This is even more true for a QB since other than Johnny Manziel, we have no examples (Tanny wasn't really a QB here though he is our best example of an Aggie QB in the NFL). I am happily amazed that we have been a great recruiting school.
Now to just go one step more and show those results on the field as well.

I am optimistic that Elko can get us there. Pending an possible Oct/Nov, he's done pretty well until now. But we need to win some some sheet that matters.

Fortunately, most recruits, unlike most posters on this site, recognize that Elko has only been here for a year and a half and can't be held responsible for the mistakes of past coaches. So when they evaluate where to go, they don't put any thought into what happened in 2011 or even 2022.

Most recruits go to a school for $$ unfortunately. Times have changed

Not really. Since a bit after we were no longer an all-male military school, A&M has had the "sizzle" at times and especially for the last 15-20 years. We just keep burning the steak.

We get it. BAS is strong with you but why would you post this? Even if you believe this, which you shouldn't, keep it to yourself. Every former player that plays in the NFL, almost across the board, says Texas A&M was the best decision of their lives. Regardless of what you believe, Texas A&M is more than just the football team.

I get that frustrations run high and our sports teams should perform at high levels but why in the world would you post something that recruits could read and perceive your self depreciating attitude as reality? We haven't won a national championship since 1939, so let's just quit. We will never be good. You must be a blast at parties!

Just an FYI, I am not sarcastically taunting you, I am calling you out for being a 2%'r and posting ridiculous comments on a Texas A&M web site. Check your self pity at the door and never quit. If you disagree, feel free to buy season tickets to watch a team that meets your historical standards.

++ avoid hype train 5*'s . Recruit solid team players.
Elko seems to be good at evaluating talent.

False narrative parroting every talking head and our rivals. Look at NFL roster placement, our hit rate and development is similar to others we have just taken more risky projects on to get stars and that included known injured.

You're correct at least about WR recruiting under Jimbo. Not sure how his pitch to Evan Stewart and Chris Marshal beat out the other teams with more modern offenses

I get what you are saying. We have definitely underachieved on the whole. However….

Unfortunately, on paper, 8-15 ranked classes equate to 8-4 in the sec. Just on average. Other than a brief run under fisher, we in general finished about what our team talent composite ranking would say under Sherman and Sumlin. Elko TBD.

We are 13th in the nfl in players on rosters currently.

Since joining the sec I believe we are 5th in win percentage of 14 teams. If not at worst 6th. (not including the one year of Texas / Oklahoma)

So while not great, we are also not this massive s***hole the zoo would leave you to believe. Still a better option than well over 100 FBS schools if you want to win games and go to the nfl. Just not what bama, Georgia, lsu have produced. So yeah, in a true head to head against the top tier schools like those, you'd expect us to end up with less wins.

But in terms of competing with the majority of the rest of the country? Even with our underachievement, we still have a lot to sell. Didn't even mention money, facilities, fan base/stadium atmosphere, etc.

This board is for discussion. And discussion done respectfully. That is what I did. And on topic.
Why are you trying to muzzle discussion here?

"Recruits will read" is the most bs reason. If they really based their decision on the Zoo posts, no one would come here.

I am an Ag and will always be so I have my bias towards A&M always. But a top recruit is just looking for his progression to the NFL. We have not done a good job on that part, so I wonder why someone without any biases would pick A&M over Alabama or OSU since the chances of getting into the NFL are higher.

Nothing wrong in knowing this. Maybe there's something they want to be part of.

Again, Texas A&M is more than a football team.

You must be a blast at parties! Always positive and leave everyone feeling uplifted after speaking to you. Awesome! Keep it up! I'm sure everyone is as excited to read about you being "realistic and discussing" the last 80+ years. There is a difference between being realistic and being a negative jack wagon.

As you gripe about our performance, understand that TU has only had 2 National Championships in the last 50 or so years. They don't come easy. There have been many programs that have performed over a period of time but then drift away. Harvard, NB, OK, Miami, FL, USC, Notre Dame, Clemson, FL State. Should recruits stay away from those listed above too? What a ridiculous opinion/statement.

An AG maybe. A good AG with a realistic opinion, no freaking way. Try and control your BAS and keep it constructive.

Dismal at parties or not, he speaks truth, and you get no points for being a deluded kook-aide drinker. The only perk it comes with is the ability to look down your nose at those who no longer drink it.
