Trying to zoom out and get a feel for that. Who will we lose for sure with today's starting 5?

It all depends on how we manage the NIL transactions.

On the offensive side - We will be spending NIL money on these existing players
to remain on our 2026 roster: Here is the Priority:

1. QB - Marcel Reed
2. QB - Brady Hart
3. WR - KC Concepcion
4. WR - Mario Craver
5. WR - Terry Bussey
6. RB - Ruben Owens II
7. WR - Ashton Bethel-Roman
8. RB - Jamarion Morrow
9. TE - Theo Melin-Ohrstrom
10 OL - Every O Lineman in the 2 deep roster that doesn't go Pro.

Interesting #2

Sounds like you're hearing that Hart is the projected QB of the future over Miles?

Or is the expectation that Miles leaves regardless of nil to try to get on the field somewhere else?

From just a graduation standpoint though we lose our top 3 tackles....

So unless we portal that position, we're presumably starting sophomores or freshman at both tackle positions

I guess we could slide a guard but our tackle prospects are supposedly expected to be pretty good

Here is the thinking on our Aggies 3 year QB strategy:

Next year in 2026, Marcel will be QB1 and Miles O'Neil will be QB2 for the 2026 roster.

Come the 2027 season - "Brady Hart" will be our starting QB.
-- He will also be our starting QB for the 2028 Season.

This will probably be an area addressed by the portal. It will certainly have to be

Getting back to what the OP asked about, the Offensive Line, we will lose Zuhn, Reed-Adams, and Crownover for sure. Fatheree and Koli are also out of eligibility as well.

The big question mark is Bisontis. He is only in his 3rd year so he could come back. The only question is will he.

Other than that, Nabou is the only returning starter that should be back.

The only other OL to get any real game time so far is RS-Fr Bourdon.

So yeah, the experience on the field will be lacking but there are guys that have been in the program a few years that will probably move into the starting lineup unless they decide they need to go portal.
RS-Fr on the team this year include Afua, Ivy and Funk.

Then you have the true Freshmen that includes big time recruit LaMont Rogers.

I think portal activity will be determined by what the coaches think of the young guys.

Definitely going to have to hit the portal, even if it is just for backups.

Next year's OL is going to be a combination of young and some patch work. We can't expect it to be as good as this year's, but have to hope that it is at least serviceable.

Why stop at next year? What will it be like in the year 2030.

LOL

Just enjoy this season. That can be reviewed next year.

Transfer not always the answer...Auburn thought that was the answer this year and they've struggled. Maybe for 1 to 2 guys, but not an OL makeover.

While we have some gaps, look at the participation charts as they have tried to rotate some of the younger guys a bit. Bourdon has played a lot and even started once, I think this year (at RT due to other injuries).

You have to hope Bisontis and Nabou stay another year as they are juniors. I really think Bisontis can have a future on Sunday's and if he were to stay another year he can play himself into a day 1 or day 2 draft pick. Robert Bourdon seems like a great fill in at left tackle. He comes in on heavy situations and played for Zuhn when he stepped out against Utah State and looked fantastic. I'd also love to hope 5 star Lamont Rogers can step into the other tackle spot, he looks imposing out there! We can always grab another interior guy or even a tackle for competition in the portal. We haven't really attacked the portal for lineman yet, but this offseason should be the time!

I think one thing that pretty much can't be disputed about Elko is that he's been very successful using the portal to fill holes on his team. So that gives me some hope that, even if it's not a strength next year, we'll be able to effectively deal with the attrition with a combo of young players currently on the roster and some pickups from other teams.

Doubt it.
Miles is too good to stick around for another year and be backup. He will have to see a path to a starting job somewhere, either here or somewhere else.

If Marcel stays, either Hart or a new qb coming in will be backup next year.
I like Marcel but his accuracy has to improve for him to ever be a pro qb. Marcel is probably a better qb right now, but Miles is probably more accurate and has a better chance at being a pro than Marcel unless he improves.

This is why making the playoffs has to happen this year

Oline experience is the biggest key to winning football

My QB strategy assumption was with the possibility that Miles would stay on in 2026.

I understand that Miles may very well leave to another team in 2026 with a NIL deal.
If so then Brady Hart will be our backup QB for 2026 behind starter Marcel Reed.

Then going forward from there, Brady Hart will be our starting QB for the 2027 & 2028 seasons.

Huge assumption given the current state of college football and NIL.

Will Marcel really get drafted after his junior year?

Too early to say, but as or right now, it's not out of the question that Reed is our QB1 through the '27 season. Unless he becomes a legit pro prospect, there is no reason to leave with the NIL money he can make here.

He's an amazing college QB who continues to improve every week. We should be so lucky if he stays through his senior year!

Technically Reed could still be QB1 in 2027

I think the presumption by Elko and staff going forward is that they are recruiting OL with a higher talent level to where they don't need to be 4th or 5th year guys to be very good.
But one would've hoped that we were seeing more playing time for those young guys if that were the case.

It will definitely be interesting next year.

And I agree, we need to take advantage of this year

LT- Robert Bourdon (RS Soph.)
LG - Mark Nabou (RS Jr.)
C - Ashton Funk (RS Soph.)
RG - Chase Bisontis (Sr.)
RT - Nelson McGuire (Soph.)
TE - Theo Melin-Ohrstrom (RS Sr.)

LT - Lamont Rogers (Soph)
LG - Blake Ivy (RS Soph.) or Jonte Newman (Soph)
C - Isendre Ahfua (RS Soph.) or Joshua Moses (RS fish)
RG - Marcus Garcia (Soph.) or Tyler Thomas (RS fish)
RT - Zaden Krempin (fish) or Samuel Rosborough (fish) or Avery Morcho (fis
TE - Kiotti Armstrong (Soph.) or Micah Riley (RS Sr.) or Evan Jacobson (fish)

Might move some defensive linemen to offense. Landon Rink could be a great right guard.

As everyone said, we clearly need lots of experienced OL (and TE) from the portal.

Marcel Reed will have nothing left to prove by staying after 2026.

One interior OL in the portal that is a legit starter, I would look for a 4th or 5th yr Senior.

Most of the current players are too young and inexperienced. My guess is that they will try to get 5 or more Jr/Sr OL and 2 or 3 Tight ends. They probably would like to redshirt the freshmen.
AggieDub04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Best case is to have Bisontis and Nabou back. After that it depends on development. If you feel like Funk, Bourdon and Rogers are ready then you're looking to the portal for depth. If not then you're looking to bring in upperclassmen who can play, similar to Reed-Adams and Koli last year.
Aston04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Seems like offensive line may be the hardest position to recruit the portal from. We've had one really successful portal OL transfer in this era so far (Reed Adams)... Two if you count Koli Faaiu...

Really hope the newer guys are looking good in practice.

lol. Casuga probably starts at QB over all these guys come 2026, maybe including Reed too.

If you don't have a top shelf OLine, you're not winning the big trophy. We damn sure better be spending NIL on top tier OLine, otherwise what the F are we doing….

Winning the big trophy? Can we just field an OL and team that can get us to the playoffs at minimum.
