I'll give Elko credit though. He obviously realized that was a bad decision and promptly corrected it. Jimbo would have been like "no, Zurkle won the job. He was better in practice. He's our starting kicker, even if he misses every kick. How dare you question me."

Well, Zirkel was injured. Could just be an excuse to bench him instead of saying he got demoted because of the missed PAT.

But I don't get why you think it was bizarre that Zirkel was named the starter. Elko said he clearly beat out Bond during spring and fall camps so he earned the nod. Playing the first two games against scrubs was a perfect opportunity to give him some action in a real game.

There's an element of competition here . Elko is exactly right that if a guy has outperformed another in Soring and Fall camp by "a wide margin@ he should be getting the first crack at the job. Can't play favorites just because. One was the incumbent.

Given Saturday's game, I do have one question for whomever posted this information.

Why?

Why would you do this?

Tell me how many consecutive PAT's he has AFTER he graduates.

Maybe Bond needed the wake up call. Still young adults end of day and by benching Bond it put that chip on his shoulder which he needed. Kudos for Bond regardless coming in and hitting some clutch kicks.

The same people that posted last Sunday (the 7th) that A&M was the only SEC program that all 5 sports were undefeated (FB, VB, Soccer, M/W Golf) granted at the time Soccer was 3-0-3, which the ended up losing that night after it was posted, then VB lost the two ranked matchups they had last week. Nothing like spiking the preverbal football after 2 weeks when FB had only played cupcakes. Luckily the FB team survived that level of jinx. Hopefully Bond can too.
