What are the chances that Manning could be the next Jeremy Johnson? Refreshing everyone's memory, he was at Auburn in 2013..he started several games that year and was amazing, so much so that following off season he was dubbed 'the next Cam' and a Heisman favorite, 2014 he had a TERRIBLE season...so much so he was finally benched. Seemed like a sure thing, but never count your chickens etc....flame away, one can hope right?

Reed has a better chance of becoming the next Johnny Football if that answers your question.

except Arch wasn't amazing - he was decent when he started against G5 schools but wasn't spectacular and he was one dimensional running the wildcat formation in SEC games. He was likely concussed against us but still allowed to play and if he continues to initiate contact when he runs he won't make it through the season. He may light up it up but right now the hype is all last name.

Some of y'all are so afraid that Arch might turn out to be a great QB that you're looking for any reason to say that he sucks. If he was an Aggie, y'all would feel much differently.

He hasn't played much so he still got a lot to prove but he has a good chance of becoming a pretty good QB with his pedigree and talent.

Why do you care?

What does it have to do with anything?

Reality is he has a double digit chance to win the NC the next 2 years.

We have a double digit chance to make the Playoffs.

His position doesn't impact ours if we take care of our business.

I'll say this, if I'm a NFL team, then I DGAS how he performs in college because he'll do great in The League!

(In college, folks said Peyton chokes in big games, & Eli was just decent at Ole Piss; however, BOTH wear Super Bowl rings!)

I think my position isn't "afraid"...I just find it annoying the media mania regarding a kid who has yet to do much of anything on the field...in my mind if he was the second coming of Peyton then why not play him more last year? All of yall are right itll play out, maybe its just the old man cloud thing I just hate that it appears to be some forgone conclusion that hes going to win national championships and a Heisman, like lets see what he does starting several games in a row right?

Maybe they should try to win the conference first.

The Wildest thing about Manning last year to me was he became the Running QB towards the end of the year.

Sark took a risk everytime he sent Arch out there in a game knowing he was gona run him. On his TD run against A&M, everyone Knew he was gona run the ball (we still couldn't stop it).

Why risk a "Manning Arm" with all the rushing attempts? I believe Florida was the only game he had 0 rush attempts.

Maybe Sark is a genius? Maybe Quinn was really just a better passer/decision maker?

Hot take. Newsletter? You do realize this an Aggie board not SECrant or a whorn site? Amirite?

These are the kinds of threads you get after years of not winning anything of true significance, like a conference title or championship game appearance.

Johnson didn't have the network, the conference, the schedule makers, and the refs all in his back pocket actively pushing him to be the next big thing.

Manning has all of the above.

He could play like garbage and the EsipN talking heads will worship him all the way to the hypesman ceremony regardless.

He's never going to be the player he's expected to be. 5* #1 player in the nation by all the recruiting services was always ridiculous. He'll probably by drafted in the 3rd or 4th round which would make him a solid but not great QB.

So he was like almost every QB2 in the modern history of major college football?

I'm not mocking you, I'm just curious how you picked out this one guy at Auburn 12 years ago for your example?

Do we really have to endure the insufferably overrated Manning hype here too.

There's some truth in there

I'll say this; he's a good runner and that alone makes him dangerous

Not afraid. Has nothing to do with him. It has everything to do with wanting tu to lose.

I do not want him to flop, seems like a good kid. I want him to win every game they play less the two games they face the Fightin' Texas Aggies!

He plays for the sips, if he was my brother I would still want him to lose every game.

Difference is Johnson got crowned based on his onfield performance. Arch got it merely for his name. He has never ever performed as an elite QB. We've convinced ourselves he is because he was stellar in a 2A district and has a name on his back.

Why in the Hell would we want him to flop???? There is no value to A&M by beating a tu team with a bad QB!

I don't have anything against the kid. I think he is under tremendous pressure, during the recruiting process and while he's been at Austin. I don't think it's his fault that the media put the name accolades pressure on him.

I imagine last year Sark knew of the limitations he had in both QB's. But he had a great O-Line, and damn good backs and receivers.

tu lost damn near it's WHOLE O-line from last year. They can't run and they can't pass protect this year.

I seem to recall Jimbo's longest playing QB was only worth a cr@p when we had our best O-Line and we had a run game to take all the pressure off of his happy foot, always panicking @$$.

The Ag's get no street cred from beating a lousy team. You want Cred, you gotta beat a GOOD Team. Oh and I see tu still ranked until the @$$ whopping the Sooners have planned for this week. The Venables defense is going to light up that tu O-Line.
