A HS coach told told me 40 years ago that there's a correlation between a strong throwing arm and catching skills. So I've been paying attention to it ever sense and believe it's about a strong of a correlation there is and the correlation is arm strength alone, not accuracy

That said, Marcels running skills are evident. His cannon for an arm makes me think he's probably got great catching skills, along with his obvious body control when he runs.

I think his NFL potential is higher at WR than QB. That doesn't mean he can't see thr NFL as a QB, I just think his odds of success are better at WR

Well we had a 5* QB w a next level skill set but our head coach brought in a magician for a pep talk and the magician broke our qb's brain by hiding a card in his shoe

So now we have a qb who's throwing motion looks like a clay pigeon thrower

At the NFL level there's a lot more to it than just having great hands, and body control for the WR position.

But even with that said, has he ever played at the WR spot? He would have to learn an entire new position at age 20, 21, or 22?

I give it a .12% chance

He was always a quarterback

He was just too athletic to keep on the bench when we had zero receiver depth

I had the same thought on Reggie for diffwrent reasons but it was a little late in the game when he switched

And as fast as he was he didn't have Reeds lateral mobility

That segment's weird impact doesn't get enough introspection.

I'm 100 percent convinced there was a correlation between QB's over-the-top reaction and how our team performed alongside him. Bad juju or something.

Not sure about his running skills either. At QB, this might be his last season in the SEC. We'll see. He's coming off a 5-game losing streak.

I'm with you. Expectations are high in the building due to returning talent and experience. If Reed can't get it done I'd expect a new QB in 2026, hell maybe even after the October bye in 2025. Reed is going to have to show he can make the correct vertical read, deliver throws vertically with accuracy, stop checking everything down, and stop bailing on clean pockets. His accuracy and understanding of the play concepts are where he will either win big or lose big. I know he's got heart, leadership, and was always prepared which led to beating lsu (defense gave him 3 short fields and their DC didn't prep for the option) so Texags worships him but he has to take a big leap as a QB this fall.

I would not be shocked if we used a semi dual QB rotation and put in Myles when we need.more touch to win a game IF it looks like we need to at some point this season

That would depend on other factors but I think know our OL will protect well

He's a college level QB with limited passing ability and strong running and playmaking ability.

Without a strong O-Line / Running game, he reeks of 7-5 or 6-6.

Reggie McNeal never caught a pass in the NFL. Your bar for "didn't set the world on fire" is quite low.

Couldn't start a fire with gasoline and a match??? He did take one carry as QB…but no catches, regular rushing plays, or even blocks…

We historically have been very weak at QB at least in part because we tend to lean heavily on ball control to protect our defense. There are exceptions but several of them we dual threat (Bucky, Johnny, Kellen as a short list of more memorable players.) Murray Sr. definitely was more like a dual threat but had an arm.

Texas A&M's 2025 season will depend on starting quarterback Marcel Reed significantly improving as a pocket passer. Still, for those who have been paying attention this offseason, the Aggies return all five starting offensive linemen, while adding 14 players from the transfer portal, led by former North Carolina State wide receiver KC Concepcion.

On Sunday, Michael Bratton and Cousin Shane of That SEC Podcast predicted Texas A&M's 2025 record, stating that the "best case scenario" would be for the Aggies to finish 10-2 or 9-3, which would likely place them in the College Football Playoff conversation. This, of course, resulted in rival fan bases responding to the positive A&M take, including Texas fan @ShinerRyan on X, feeling Bratton's prediction was "quite optimistic":

"That is quite optimistic. With likely losses at ND and Texas, there is no room for error. I just don't see it unless Reed becomes a stud at the QB position. I think if they hit 8-4, Elko has done a solid job and can build on that. 9-3 and you extend the man."

Bratton quickly responded, pointing out Texas A&M's strength in the trenches, and accurately noting that while Reed must imrpove as a passer, he doesn't need to be perfect given the Aggies' running back room and deep wide receiver rotations with the additions of Concepcion, Mario Craver, and 2025 five-star signee Jerome Myles.

I'm not sure why Marcel Reed has to carry Texas A&M given the Aggies bring back the SEC's most experienced O-Line and top 4 leading rushers

A&M's defense has to get better defense cost them Carolina, Auburn & Southern Cal games

So, the recruiting story to the next generation of players is that to make it to the NFL, looking at other positions can help you more than being developed at the position you were recruited at?

I'm At the Aggie autograph session. There is not much in the receiver group. We have backs and line but other than KC and Craver im not sure who he throws to.
