I'm starting to think the Women's basketball natty in 2011 was just a glitch in the matrix.
There is zero chance we'd ever beat UT Dallas!4 said:

I don't believe in such nonsense (about this lobby you have to wait in before entering Heaven), but I no longer seek self fulfillment from A&M sports. Now family and self challenging pursuits are where its at.SBISA Victim said:

Winning women's basketball (or softball), while nice, doesn't really matter..SBISA Victim said:

The worst thing about that is that they let Blair go out on his own terms, after running the program into the ground. A&M should have told him to retire a few years before that.
The athletics department reaps what it sows. Recruits will go where the money is, that is what most of them care about most of all.UltimateSuperGenius said:
I am very open to an honest conversation about our successes and disappointments. However, a hyperbolic thread like this only serves one purpose. It is to disparage our university and its athletics department. People like this are trying to influence the recruits that visit this site. Over and over and over again this is allowed to happen. I wish this would change.

If only we had a natty category for culture and traditions
Hyperbolic? WTF are you talking about. We haven't won anything of significance in nearly 100 years. You're part of the problem.UltimateSuperGenius said:

The purgatory line is quoting a post from Texas dipsh*** Kyle Umlaung about the softball team.Mega Lops said:I don't believe in such nonsense (about this lobby you have to wait in before entering Heaven), but I no longer seek self fulfillment from A&M sports. We're not even Mississippi State, which won a baseball national title in 2021. That's how bad we are.Strategy said:
A&M needs a massive overhaul. We aren't likable.
We are Mississippi State 2.0 with more money.

The athletic department prioritizes revenue and profit over winning. They are content with mediocre finishes as long as they have a strong financial outlook. Until the athletic department stops accepting mediocrity, we won't win anything meaningful in one of the Big 3 college sports. I have learned to expect mediocrity and hope for excellence.
Football: Since winning the Big 12 in 1998, we have lost 4+ games in 24 of 26 years, and the only exceptions were when we finished 11-2 (6-2 SEC) in 2012 and 9-1 (8-1 SEC) in 2020. We have never made a playoff appearance, and the closest we came was in 2020.
Men's Basketball: We have never even reached the elite 8 and have not reached the Sweet 16 since 2018.
Baseball: We have reached the College World Series 8 times in 1951, 1964, 1993, 1999, 2011, 2017, 2022, 2024, but we have never won the national championship. The closest we came was losing 6-5 to Tennessee in Game 3 of the College World Series Final.
