every chance we get, we will never jump over the hurdle of mediocrity.

Every chance this forum gets, it's "tu this!", "tu that!", and i've only been on here a couple weeks. Don't confuse me with a tu troll, i've been a fan of the ags since the 80's, but our entire brand revolves around our obsession with another state school in Austin. tu fans have no problem screen shotting our pity party forum topics that finger point at tu or inevitably bring tu up in a forum topic completely unrelated to them.

Who cares about them man? Until we care more about our school rather than theirs, we will be the living example of insanity: doing the same thing (hating on tu) over and over again and expecting the different results

Lastly, the pity parties (BAS) that happen on texags are embarrassing, counterintuitive, and more content for our supposed "evil in state arch-rival" to post and laugh at

Either shutup about tu and get busy supporting your team or pick a different team

Yeah, if our football team goes 1-11 and beats tu, I'm perfectly ok.

Not sure where you're coming from.

Once you realize/accept that 99% of what you do, think about, or talk about as a fan has zero bearing on the success of the teams you support, the happier you'll be.

I reserve 1% for the big money donors who actually do have some power over A&M athletics and, unfortunately, tend to drive our program into the ground over and over.

This was the general attitude when I was in school from '69-'73!

Looks like we haven't progressed much since then!

The more things change, the more they stay the same!

i personally don't think tu has anything to do with our failures. talking about them has no bearing on our failures either. we are good enough at screwing stuff up on our own, why would anyone else need to mess with us. we have won nothijg since 1939 and we have played for exactly 1 men's championship during that time and that was last season baseball team.

our biggest issue is we cannot win when there are any expectations. doesn't matter the sport if we are expected to do well we fail typically in very dramatic fashion. until we can win when there are expectations to win we will never win *****

We're not on the same level as them, and never will be. The sooner we accept that, the better off we will be as fans.

I hate to say it, but Texas has been an elite team over the last 2 years:

1. Texas went 25-5 over the last two years, including 15-2 (8-1 Big 12 in 2023 and 7-1 SEC in 2024) in regular season conference games.

2. Texas has made back-to-back conference championship game appearances and CFP Semifinal appearances.

3. Texas has won an FBS leading 11 consecutive road games since a 41-34 loss at Oklahoma State on 10/22/2022.

4. Texas had 11 players drafted last year and will likely have 10+ players drafted this year.

5. Texas has the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.

In contrast, we have gone 15-11 (9-7 SEC) over the last two years, including 2-6 in true road games. Dating back to a 29-19 road loss at Ole Miss on 11/13/2021, we have lost 12 of our last 14 road games. Until we can start winning at least half of our road games, we will not even be a great team.

He did it over 5 years.
But yes, what he was building during his first 3 years has certainly panned out and shown itself in his last 2.

There is nothing wrong with having a deep seeded rival. It is what makes college sports great. You don' t think the same thing is happening at other schools with their rivals like Michigan and OSU? I agree we need the primary focus to be on our team, but there is nothing wrong with "hating" your rival.

I made a thread about it but it got deleted: Sark may be drinking again. We also do know for a fact he's having problems with his marriage. His off the field problems may catch up to him.

We'll see what happens.

The building was during his first 2 years: 5-7 (3-6 Big 12) in 2021 and 8-5 (6-3 Big 12) in 2022, and it was displayed over the last 2 years.

Totally agree with OP. The absolute worst thing we do as Aggies when it comes to tu is the horns down WHEN WE ARENT EVEN PLAYING THEM. That only shows they own the moron that is doing it.

Fans should do this.

But what the fans are talking about has little or no impact on the state of the program. In fact, that's why we should stop our own anxiety about it.

I think the message boards talking about it is a symptom of not winning. I also think that being 'in their shadow' is a symptom of not winning. Maybe we should all just focus on winning.

Most of those guys came from the era of "as long as we beat tu its a successful season" mentality.

Whether you admit it or not, that unfortunate mentality has defined Texas A&M sports for a century and then some.

Difference between us and Mich or tOSU - yes, they hate each other. But they don't live and die by that game every year. They measure the success of the program by championships.

We measure success by moral victories.

So what would you attribute this to? As stated, it has been that way in so many sports over such a long period. Why would the BMA's over such a long timeframe let this happen?

Agree with what you are saying, but was just using that as one of hundreds of examples and would argue that even the Mich/tOSU has a lot of moral victory associated with it. Just look at the temperature of those fan bases when they aren't competing for a chip and lose to the other school.

Completely understand your point that we should have some level of focus on winning something other than just a rivalry game.

I'm just being realistic. We had a window to succeed when we came to the SEC and they were still in the Big 12, and we blew it. I hate them as much as the next guy, but we shouldn't be comparing ourselves to them or we will continue to be miserable and disappointed. They've absolutely dominated us off the field for the past few years, and that's going to show on the field even more than it already has.
