Find a decent secondary coach in the portal.

He is a Defensive Minded Coach. Our head coach. He should keep his mouth shut unless everyone below him were renegades.

A head coach can't be an effective OC or DC, IMO. He needs to hire better across the board.

More than one coach needs to go but the NIL might be being paid to the wrong players as well.

True...and shows we have a major problem next year as DL looked porous vs USC and unknown if new DEs will push for improvement. 50/50 how they will unfold.

I don't know how you make the comments he made last night and not fire Bateman. At the same time, I don't know if Elko reasons through his post game comments as well as he should (see post LSU)

We looked porus because we were very limited on depth. As the game went on we were warn down.

I think Searcy will be good and Howell looked really good. I think we will see Howell on the edge and Searcy in the 5 technique. Regis and Hicks will be inside. Our starters should be very good. The issue will be after that. I think we are good at Edge but a little concerned with the 5 technique after Searcy since 1st and 2nd string will be transfers. DT we will have Evans as Hicks backup so I think we will be ok there but who backups Regis?

Not to mention we probably need a rotation of about 10 players to have significant time on the DL. So depth is my biggest concern. We have numbers at Edge but not 5 and not DT.

The bottom line is that it is not the lack of talent or conditioning, If they were, it would have been obvious throughout the season.

Our collapse was a coaching one. One thing that ALL coaches do is watch film. Then they plan accordingly.

The problem with our coaches is that they do not change or adapt as the season progresses. This is why we "collapse" toward the end of the season.

Opposing coaches know what to expect.

Many years ago, I read an article in which a tt player was being interviewed concerning our game. He was asked how does he and the team prepare to play us and how much film do that watch.

He answered that they do not have to watch any film for they know exactly what to expect in playing us. This was during the Slocum era and by the way, tt beat us in that game.

What was then is still apparently true today.

vander54, did you play college ball? I'll scan through all this ignorant posting to suddenly come across your post, which is like an oasis in the desert. LOL I was mainly looking for Reed to show some improvement and I think he did. Looks to be calming down and throwing with a little more touch. Long way to go though. Liked seeing Owens! A&M will still be relying on a bunch of portal transfers in 25'. I didn't expect the DL Issues to improve without Nic & Shemar's. I like Elko's recruiting, but I'm not confident that we'll have the depth built up in Elko's 2nd year. Having been there, through that, I know what's going down however in all honesty, I'm not much of a fan of that run back into the middle pile on 3rd & short. Is this something we need to keep trying in order to make us better in the future? Like some day we'll win a Championship on a 4th & short TD, then reflect back on how many times we failed on our way to achieving greatness. LOL

It was obvious throughout the season if you knew what to look for.

ND started a true freshman at left tackle. No production. Couldn't stop the run.

A very average Bowling Green team ran at will.

LSU went up and down the field at will. No pass rush. No production.

Texas lost their All American LT first drive. Replaced with a RS FR. No production. Couldn't stop the run.

That's the wrong coordinator to let go.

The best our OC could muster was 4 straight HB dives into a stacked box.

This happened in multiple games this season.
