Would be big for us in multiple ways. Dude is like 6'8" 320 lbs.

Did we lose anyone at positions we're thin at?

we have depth issues, esp on the inside part of the DL (need to be 3 deep rotation at a min). DE is debatable, but agree we need a playmaker to add to the rotation.

Know a couple DE/DTs have come thru, but don't know where we stand (other than losing a couple to other programs in this process ... not losing, but not winning their commitment or verbal).

Elko showing a tell during the conference that this probably not going badly, but not going 'great' (esp on a couple fronts...but still in play) and seems like he's not sure anything 'done' until they officially step onto campus.

have to haves

2 defensive tackles and 2 strong side defensive ends
1 offensive lineman
1 veteran polished wide receiver

in my view these are necessities everything else is gravy.

I'd take OT World, at least one DT, maybe the Kentucky guy. DE looks a little thin right now in the portal, at least what's still available, but we need to add at least one. I'd take the Arizona CB if he wanted to come. Did not see a ton of top notch safeties, but we need to fill the Star position. Is Daniels too big now or is he still a take? One of Robinson, Key or Anderson at WR. If we can get the Purdue TE, I would say he is a take as well.

I'd take 1 WR or TE and then just a bunch of d-linemen

I know the idea of an Antonio Johnson guy sounds great, but it more or less appears we are planning on going with a nickel/cover player in that role. Chappel is much more likely to start than the star described on the other thread. I could see Humphrey playing both nickel and corner. Our base will include the nickel / chappell in that role assuming healthy,

Dl is by far the biggest need. Need run defenders. A couple of Dts and a starting 5 tech. That bigger heavy shade 5 in the mold of 6-5 265 is a big need. Howell and Kennedy will both essentially play the hybrid end similar to what Durham and Tyree Johnson did in the past.

A TE.

A RB, OT, LB are all luxuries if the right guys comes. Ot becomes a must if Zuhn leaves but as of now people think he comes back.

We have 17 OL on scholarship as of now. That's already more than most teams carry. It's possible 1-2 more leave but even then, most teams carry 14-16. We would need to lose about 3-4 more to add 2. I'd expect 1 max here unless we have a rash of attrition.

I think that's a perfect order of needs

DT we have good numbers but way to young. DE we need numbers and experience.

I think if we add more than 1 DT we risk losing some and you can't always control who goes.

Most of those 17 are inexperienced and true fish. I'd honestly think anyone would be crazy to only carry 14. Some of the guys on OL in the '25 class won't last here. I'd prefer some experience now at the expense of whoever may be wavering.

Need a difference maker at QB.
