Such a joke to see them on a big stage playing a legit powerhouse like Clemson. They're about to get destroyed by a clearly superior team. And Clemson is having a bit of a down year.

SMU's schedule was fairly light. These are the games that will expose them. But I'm still rooting for pony to win. It's just not looking good Clemson up 14 early.

You'll notice their coaches don't vapor lock during critical moments.

I don't make much of the rankings, for obvious reasons. You can't really compare classes that are somewhat close, but there's no denying the substantial and significant difference between schools with multiple years of top-10 classes versus another with multiple years averaging near 75th. And if you don't believe that, then you're an idiot.

Amazing what good coaching can do.

If SMU gets run out of the stadium by a Clemson team that lost to every team they played with a pulse, they don't deserve a spot I the playoffs

SMU doesn't deserve a playoff spot, and if they somehow still get in after this, it'll just happen again against whoever they would face in the playoffs.

I just realized they didn't have to play Clemson or Miami this year. That was already a joke of a conference before the last realignment, but it's even more pathetic now. I still wouldn't put $ on us beating SMU however lol.

Maybe we should drop conference and play the schedule they did. Clemson is by far their toughest game so far and we see what is happening. Truth is the polls needs to start ranking with SoS being heavily considered. Having SMU in the top 10 is a joke.

20 out of 22 starters are transfers, all of whom have played 4 or more years of college ball. Duece Harmon, for example.

I will say one thing about SMU. I understand their SOS is not as hard as others but they made a move to a Power 4 conference to play harder competition. They played the schedule that was given to them. They have beaten teams that were thought to be good at the beginning of the season and better than their competition in previous yrs like UL, Pitt, FSU. This is one year where I wouldn't hold their schedule against them given they moved into a harder conference. Clemson will probably win but they are playing them pretty well after the 1st qtr.

Sounds like an old team. Those types of teams win a lot in CFB. I bet two things. They lose a lot of those players next year and it is not sustainable in the long run for SMU. Remember they are paying for the privilege of being in the ACC by not receiving tier 1 media distributions.

I think you're spot on. I checked the top 4 SEC teams and no one is even close to half their starters coming from transfers. You have to build internally. That's how a true winning culture and belief in the team is created.

Louisville is not "very weak". And citing a week 1 game to say Clemson sucks now 3 months later is silly. They're comparable to South Carolina.

SMU takes Clemson to the last seconds. Not exactly destroyed.

Let me grant you the SCAR equivalent… SCar finished 5th in conference. If you want to use that comparison (which I'm fine with) you're saying our 5th place team is better than SMU (who is likely playoff bound).

Funny that in the AP poll voting Texas A&M (26) had just slightly more points than Louisville (27). I guess we are "very weak" too.

SMU is #25 on team talent. Not awesome but also not horrible. Their Sagarin computer rank is #12 so they are either lucky, better at talent evaluation, better at coaching, or all of the above.

This is such an overlooked key to success. Teams full 2/3 stars of 3/4 year starters tend to be VERY successful.
