We are two weeks away from playing t.u.. I don't want to down play Auburn, which could be trap game for us...but am generally interested in reasoned assessments from members of this forum as to how well (or not so well) we are positioned to win that game.

Let's focus on Auburn first

It literally does not matter on a message board. We are not the players. There is nothing wrong with talking about hypotheticals.

Typical Texags...unable to just focus on the next game as that is all that matters (thankfully Elko will have the team focusing on Aub...although wonder about the players after USCe debacle of lack of mental prep).

Texags...let's look to next yr and say if we win 9 games this yr (or 10), we should easily win SEC and NC next yr. as that's how we think. While no one will consider or completely ignore the tougher sched and losing 3 top DL players (NFL caliber - maybe 4 with A Regis) than we have to replace with unproven 'depth' (only 1 top DT will be on the team and maybe 2 capable/proven DEs). DL will be a rebuild mode next year est on DT 'depth' and experience.

Message board topics rarely, if ever have an impact on games.

Oh no. We will lose to Auburn now because we are looking ahead.

Texas has a better team and depth the way things currently stand. We can definitely beat them though. Hoping for a close mediocre win over Auburn so nobody take us seriously going into that game.

You are so correct. This afternoon it is game film review. Most likely way better than the last one. Tomorrow is late afternoon and night practice. I doubt any of them will be looking ahead. We can and there is nothing wrong with that.

tu has a very solid D that seems to be legit but their O is not all that scary.

They don't stretch the field well and are not a great running team. They have great athletes at the WR position. Keep their WR in front of us and swarm to the ball and we can stop them.

IMO our DL and overall tackling will determine if we win or not

It is going to be an insane atmosphere renewing an old rivalry, full of hate and hype. Who the f*** knows what can happen. We have seen countless rivalry games where unusual things happened.

They are very beatable. Should help if it's at night.

tu seems to play a bit of a dink and dunk game of football. Reminds me a lot or old school texas tech. quick plays with drop offs, screens, and rely on their speed and blocks, which they are really good at.

georgia took those short passes away and challenged tu to man up and beat them running and throwing down the field, then they hit the QB on blitzes.

i wonder if we have the CB/safety talent to take away their screen game.

Auburn will be maybe a 3 point underdog to us. They are as good as SC against the run. They will force Reed to beat them through the air, which is going to be a tall order.

We will have to play our best game to beat them.

To answer the OP, how well are the Ags positioned to BTHO the sips - very well. On a scale of 1-10, I'd say the Ags are at a 9 out of 10, only not a 10 because of the loss of Moss, Owens and the center. Sips are grossly overrated, game at Kyle (likely a night game), first matchup against a loathed rival in 12 years, payback opportunity for the screw-job officiating in that game, winner into the SEC CG and a ticket to the CFP, and A&M is simply a better team than the burnt orange goobers. HTH

It'll be a close one, but given 1) it's at Kyle Field and it will be the loudest, most intimidating atmosphere to date, and 2) Elko will most definitely have the team extremely focused, especially if we handle our business against Auburn… I really like our chances.

Whether tu gets past Kentucky, or A&M gets past Auburn… the last game of the regular season will be a "put up or shut up" game.

If we can put Heat and harass the Texas quarterback Ewers, we will win the game. If we give him time, he will pick us apart. If our offensive line is healthy and can win the line of scrimmage, we will dominate the game. The 12th man will make all the difference in the world. It's to our advantage that Texas does not have a dual threat quarterback. We match up well against them.
