This takes away the possibility of the Big 12 getting a second team in the Playoff. It could've happened if BYU went 12-0 but then lost in the Big 12 Championship game. This frees up one more spot for an SEC team that could've been taken up by a second Big 12 team.

Just shows you stupid the CFP rankings are. BYU was #6 and lost at home to an unranked 3 win team. The disparity in the conferences is very real but the committee is always deceived by the unblemished records of some teams. If these teams played in the SEC they would be no better than Missouri., and I would put Penn State, Indiana, SMU and Miami in that category. Play a schedule with at least 3 top 25 teams and then we'll know how good you really are.

So we move up one spot based on this?

You'd certainly hope but the committee has not made sense.

If Georgia can drop 9 then surely BYU will have to drop at least 10. But this is their first loss, who knows.

I wouldn't bet on it. A&M is not one of their "little darlings".
Not BAS just fact. All you gotta do is watch the SECN crew on Saturday night. They wouldn't even show the current SEC standings. Only their "5 best teams in the conference" with A&M at the bottom even though we have better record than all of them except sip.
Then tell me again the how these ****ing *******s aren't biased. I still remember how that ******* Chris Doering kept yapping about how Bama was going to demolish A&M until we beat the SOBs.

Colorado wins out, byu loses ccg.

As ****ty as the rankings are this year, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2 loss BYU team isn't ranked higher than the 3 loss team that loses in the SEC ccg.

BDF: one seed now.
ACC: probably two
G5 high champ: one
B1G and SEC champs: two right there.

That leaves six seeds. The Army/ND winner gets a seed if they run the table --assume ND (though having a second G5 school would be fun --no way an Army that's an undefeated G5 champ that beats ND is left out). Seven down, five to go. Either the B1G or the SEC is going to get screwed out of a fourth team. Don't be too quick to assume they'd short-sheet the B1G here. Their teams may end up higher than the SEC cohort, plus at some point when no one is looking, the question of TV ratings will come up, and they will not freeze out a two-loss Ohio State or Penn State to take a two-loss Ole Miss, for instance.
