So I know Arky hates tu due to some SWC stuff but that was my before my time. What are the specifics other than the "tu destroys everything they touch"? My little brother was asking me but I honestly have no idea.
Give me the guy who shoots for excellence and fails over the guy who shoots for mediocrity and succeeds.

Arkansas was the first to defect to the SEC to get away from sips in 92'. Sips proceeded to destroy 2 conferences since then and is looking for the hat trick now.

I'm not aware of anything specific but Frank Broyles always felt like Arkansas was victimized by biased officiating in the SEC. I imagine he felt similarly marginalized in conference dealings.

I think it stems from the games in the late 60's early 70's. From '68 to '82 (15 years), 11 of the matchups were ranked vs ranked. In '69 it was 1 v 2, in '70 it was 1 v 4 (Texas won both). In '81 unranked Arkansas beat #1 Texas.

It was a long-time rivalry that dated back to the beginning of the last century (or perhaps a few years before even, much like ours with tu started in 1894). That 1969 "Game of the Century" pitted #1 vs #2 (sips won) with President Nixon in attendance.

I know many younger Ags scoff at this, but it's the same thing with Pig vs the Ags. That rivalry dates way back as well. And think how many of the SEC years where Texas A&M had more talent in their back-ups and reserves that Piggy had on their entire team - and yet those games were very nearly always very close. They play the Ags tough not solely because A&M is "playing down" to them or making bad in-game decisions, but because they have a fervent desire to get back to their "good old days" of the 60s-80s and they bring their A+ game against A&M every time. Sips will get the same treatment.

Everyone that deals w sip eventually learns to hate them for the same reason

They're sneaky little scumbags constantly pulling underhanded moves to tilt the playing field in their favor

Greasing conference commish, cheating refs, bush league recruiting moves, it never ends w these clowns

For much of the SWC's existence after 1960 and until 1992 when Arky left, Texas, A&M, and Arkansas were the three biggest SWC name brands nationally. Once the NFL began killing off the college teams in the big cities, the large public schools started dominating. As a matter of fact, from 1960 thru 1994, those three teams appeared in the Cotton Bowl as SWC champs 27 times. Only, Baylor, Houston, and SMU ever made it to the Cotton Bowl during that same time frame. So that was the rivalry of the SWC in most years, Texas vs Arkansas, with A&M building up in the 80s and 90s, as well,

For a great number of years, the SWC title was a duel between those two.

They have played one another 79 times, a couple of times it was that game that determined the national championship, and it was tu being tu that eventually caused Arkansas to say "enough" and head east.

Arkansas had a chip on their shoulder about being the only non-Texas school in the SWC too and Texas probably played a role in that. Back in the day on game days it was said that once you crossed the Arkansas state line they wouldn't serve you gas if you had Texas plates lol

Arkansas has won the last 2 meetings by a combined score of 71-28. Arkansas has won 4 of the 5 meetings since 2000. An Arkansas victory this year will probably knock tu out of their shot at playing in the SEC title game and the 12 team tournament.

Lagway plays for Florida. If Green is able to play, and doesn't turn the ball over, it'll be a long night for tu. Pigs always play up to tu and absolutely despise them. Also, there's really no specific reason. I was born and raised in Arkansas and live here now. Pig fans say tu fans are arrogant, snooty, shyt don't stink and entitled. They do believe that they always get favorable calls, easier schedules, favored in polls and in all decisions that are made. It's just the arrogance and holier than thou attitude that they and their fans have. Almost like rich kids vs country boys. They love nothing more than punching the rich kids in the nose.

So, basically the same reason we hate em.

This game was so incredibly bitter for Arky because it was home and they lead 14-0 going to the fourth quarter against a sip wishbone offense that was averaging 44 points per game. The Ark defense was #1 in the country and forced 6 turnovers, but the sips got an INT in the end zone that with either a TD or a FG would have probably clinched the game.Sips finally scored and made the 2-point conversion to make it 14-8 then went for it on 4th and 3 from their own 43, calling a pass play to the tight end that wasn't even in the game plan.

Previously, Ark had ruined Sips season in both 64 and 65, beating them when they were #1.
It was the final game of the regular season, having been moved from October for TV purposes.
It had a TV rating of 52.1 meaning more than half the TVs in the US were watching it. No football game, including any Super Bowl, has ever drawn a higher share.

Thanks for that game recap.

This stands out to me, given that TV did the same thing to the Aggies in 1975. It seems Piggy has a habit of taking a crap on great #1-2 ranked seasons from the two biggest programs in Texas.

Their bad blood though goes back a long time and more about the officiating, tu arrogance, and greener grass in the SEC.

Arkansas is a little smarter than they appear and sniffed out sip's BS before most others. They know about sip and their dirty scumbag ways almost as much as us.

They would've voted No with us if we were calculated enough and had any foresight.

Lest we forget as well what happened to the sips in their first game vs. an SEC opponent after announcing they were coming to the conference in 2021. Which led to arguably my favorite SEC Shorts ever.
