What would you think about moving a couple DBs to WR?

Amazing how mediocre our WRs are. Walker has size but is a head case. Same with Moose.

Other guys are smallish but not very athletic with tight catch radii. ( Save NT )

Seems like a player like Mayes is fast athletic and very aggressive.

Love to see Bussey play more too.

Obviously I'm not at practice and don't see the day to day performances.

And I'm bored already. Saturday can come fast enough!

Noah Thomas is not mediocre.

We don't have the depth at DB you think we do to warrant that

Scourton to WR.

Our WR's are fine if we execute our game plan. See the Missouri game. It's not like we are dropping passes. When our pass game fails it's typically because the other team is getting pressure.

If you think our WRs are mediocre, just wait until you see our secondary!

Bussey is the guy I'd put in the slot and tell him "go get open" - to me that kid needs a lot more touches and would cause explosive plays... 1-2 touches per game is not enough.

There were two huge drops that I can think of right now during the LSU game. One was a little difficult, but the other I think the guy was just spooked.

In this game they manned up and pressed our WR and blitzed or shifted most plays against our Oline the entire first half. Their inability to shake the press and coverage allowed the to pen their ears and overwhelm our Oline.

They are not fine. They don't work to get open and when thrown to them they don't make an effort to get to the ball unless it is right on the money.

I'm not sure we have a guy that would naturally move from DB to WR, and I agree we don't have the DB depth for that...but our DB group is well ahead of our WR group. I think WR is the weakest spot of this whole team. There is talent, but we're missing that burner that can get separation and has to be accounted for (which opens up everyone else). Others may disagree, but man I wish we could have held on to Stewart

You're kinda right, on pressure.
But let's not kid ourselves about the man coverage abilities of the Mizzou secondary.

ND covered them up, playing man most of the game.
LSU covered them up when they weren't in zone, but they ran a fair amount of zone.

Hell, even Arky and Bowling F'ng Green covered them up in their man coverages

It's a completely terrible idea. We don't have depth in the secondary and it's already the weakness of our D. They're DBs for a reason. Athletic but maybe not the best hands.

I thought Bravion Rogers was a better wide receiver in high school than db…he would be my first move.

Totally disagree OP and think that is a terrible idea.

I think our WRs are better than they get credit for. The only thing I would change is to play Bussey more and get him the ball more.

It takes a better athlete to be an elite DB than an elite WR

Moss had a bad day in the passing game. Fumble and two bad drops. Made Conner look worse than he really was. Gotta clean it up for SC. Teams are gonna key in on the zone "Reed." Need to be able to pass the ball.

There was at least one terrible overthrow by Weigman. There were not a lot of dropped balls. Marcel Reed was 2/2 playing the exact same defense. Is Connor terrible? No. But if you want to put the blame on the WR's you are wrong. People here just don't like our offense. We are probably never going to have a QB put up 375 yards passing. That's totally fine if we can be efficient and run the damn ball.

Show me evidence of our WR's missing contested catches. So far CW has not demonstrated the ability to work with pressure. Marcel Reed has demonstrated this ability. It's really that simple.

The 2 drops should have been caught but they were also super short passes that Connor threw as hard as he could. Those passes need a little more touch imo.

I hear you but Jade Walker and Noah Thomas are complete mismatches even in the SEC because of their size. If Weigman were getting them 50/50 contested catches and they were losing those it would be one thing. Maybe it's scheme but I'm not buying that it's on the WR's. One thing that's undeniable is that Connor is not effective with pressure. So far at least Reed is.

In the first 5 to 6 passes thrown there were 3 drops by Moss, Thomas and Walker. In the latter 2 they weren't really drops because they didn't seem to even get their hands on the ball even though the placement was good enough for a catch.

Nevertheless, before moving DBs over, play Moose and definitely get Bussey more involved.

I hated Fisher as a head coach but he did scheme a few open plays a game for big yardage. We only did it once against LSU, Gilbert was pinching BAD and got caught... so Thomas had a huge gainer.

I am sure Klein also sets up his "call the touchdown play" but you can't really set stuff up when your QB (Weigman) has a 50% play failure rate, either because he is self collapsing the pocket, air mailing the ball, or throwing it 150mph to a guy 10 feet away.

SC will game plan the RPO so we won't be running for 10 yards per carry like against LSU. LSU was caught flat footed and the DC didn't adapt to the QB change. But given we should have a bit of success, don't be surprised to see us go deep 10 times against SC, and for a couple of WRs to run wide open a time or two. Reed will just have to hit them.

So overall, look for the WRs to look much better against SC. SC will have to play the run hard and that allows the WRs to get open and scheme open.

In general, there's a reason DB's aren't wide receivers. They can't catch the ball.
