We don't need a bad LSU to win. We just need to be good

don't be surprised to see a similar defensive plan to what we used a few years back to beat bama. elko was the coordinator. brought lots of pressure off the edge and made tackles choose which guy to pick up. was very successful in slowing down their vaunted offense for at least part of the night. could see a similar scheme to speed up Nuss

Van Buren was killing us as our edge rushers went past him and he stepped up in the pocket then Elko brought more pressure up the middle in the second half.

Same thing with lsu bring pressure but make Nussmeier go around the edges don't let him step up in the pocket.
Also he is sneaky good on third down scrambles so watch that.

Our pass d does need to be in top form this game. But that starts with the coaching and scheming. Coaches have to have the boys ready and reading the routes correctly. Talent is their, they just need to be mentally prepared to execute.

Where has Bryce Anderson been ?

We're middle of the pack in passing defense right now. (225 yards a game)

We're top 20 in rushing defense right now. (Under 100 yards a game.)

Stopping the run and playing to our strengths is the priority right now. We'll probably get be for a couple long passes, but can they sustain drives is the question. As undisciplined as they have been, that's not exactly likely.

LSU is middle of the pack in rushing defense (166 yards a game) and gave up over 200 yards rushing to Arky.

LSU is a top 20 passing defense (only 166 yards a game), but gave up almost 200 yards to Arky. They've also been worse the last 3 games of SEC play than the rest of the year.

Total defense we are top 30 giving up an average of 333 yards a game.
LSU is 1 spot worse at 333 yards a game.

The consensus on here is that they are a better team. Stats show it's about as even as it gets on the defense side of the ball.

Force them to pass so they beat us or drop more back like Durkin with a permanent nickel and they win on ground and in air???

Nussmeier has 16 rushing yards on the season and no more than 2 attempts in any single game this year. I remember the announcers during the Ole Miss game begging him to take off and run.

Nothing says he WON'T do it, but he has not done it to date.

LB and Safeties have to make him pay when he does.

They can't run the ball and we one of the best at stopping the run. Rush 4 with containment and drop everyone else so there's no where to throw the ball. I'd be trying to play a combination of man / zone.
