Wild how many highly-ranked teams have 0 impressive wins.

#9 should say "demolished by #2", hasn't played a team with a pulse since then.

#5 got embarrassed at home. you should update that. down 23-0 at half. BS officiating on a national scale and then throwing trash on field.

Will say again, we deserve at least #5 if we beat LSU.

I still wish we could ban all ranking nonsense prior to mid-season. It'll still shift a ton, but schedule loading skews performance so drastically that early rankings can be worse than meaningless.

Worst loss at home by a "#1" team in my lifetime.

Why are some rankings based on at time of play while others are based on this week's ranking?

Oregon opponents have a previous ranking (better) while ours are current ranking (worse)

You kinda switched around the current rank and the rank at the time.

If Oregon has a win over #2 doesn't UGA have a win over #1?

I think the only one that didn't have the current rankings was #1. I fixed it.

It should be wins over #4 and #17

Yeah OP, you need to rank the teams when they played each other. Like we got beat by the #7 team, Georgia beat the #1 team. tu was #1 and got beat by the #5 team.

Current ranking is more important.

If you use the ranking the week of, then you get teams like 2012 Notre Dame and 2022 TCU who *barely* beat all these teams that were ranked when they played them. But at the end of the season, those teams were unranked.

Please give reasoning.

I don't agree and here is why. If Bama beats Mizzou
We are 7-1 with a top 15 win and a top 10 loss.
Assume top 6 are unchanged.

Tennessee would have a top 15 win and a loss to a team we beat though they lost on the road and we won at "home". I don't think media will give credit for that

Nd- how could we possibly pass them?

Isu - undefeated but no top 25 wins

BYU - undefeated with win over top 15 team

Clemson - lost to #2 and but no one in top 25

I honestly only see us passing ISU in that scenario and moving up to 10. Maybe BYU to 9. In know way do I see us passing Any of top 6 nor do I see why we would. ND's loss is what holds us back.

Completely disagree and don't understand this line of thinking. So you think Texas should get credit for beating a top 10 Michigan and top 15 OU this year. Ou will go 5-7 and Michigan will go 7-5 at best

The current ranking is what matters. Go look at 2012 USC. They were ranked #1 but finished the year 7-6.

Here is the biggest fraud. PSU. In two weeks they play OSU. They don't have another top 25 team on their schedule. They could easily finish the regular season with a loss to OSU and their only meaningful win being #20 Illinois. Illinois plays only one other top 25 team Oregon so could conceivably finish with two losses and those were the only good teams they played.

Nice job B10.

The ACC is even worse. Clemson has only played two teams above .500.

UGA (6-1) - loss 34-3
UVA (4-3) - won 48-31

Top 6 in the SEC should be auto bids to the 12-team playoff. The other 6 spots should be at large between every conference, including the SEC.

Yup. Initial seeding, prior to any games, is the largest determiner of ranking.

Because we'd have the best wins out of all the 1 loss teams, and a fairly good loss.

It set the record for worst loss by a number 1. And what's funny, it was not actually as close as the final score.

They're back.

It very easily could've been 40-8.

In most cases this is never a fair judgement, especially at the midway point of the season.

It's hard for the top teams to show "good" wins when all of their opponents plummet in the polls after they curb stomp them.

Kinda how the OP says we have a win over the #21 team. BS... we had a huge win against the #9 team. The only reason they are #21 is because we obliterated them!

Eh it is fair in a lot of cases.

Penn State has beat:
- WVU (3-4)
- Bowling Green (3-4)
- Kent St. (0-7)
- Illinois (5-1) (ranked)
- UCLA (2-5)
- USC (3-4)

Texas has beat:
- CSU (4-3)
- Michigan (4-3)
- UTSA (3-4)
- ULM (5-1)(woohoo!)
- MSU (1-6)
- OU (4-3)(looking like they will not win another SEC game)

I bet I could do a pretty similar analysis for Clemson, Miami, ISU, BYU, Indiana, Kansas St., Boise St., etc.
