Calling plays and the getting blocked or hitting the wrong gaps. He may know the schemes, but his overmatched athletically.

I really like the kid but afraid he's just too small for sec lb

He broke up a pass at the end of the game.

The DL rarely puts any real pressure on the QB. We always have to bring extra guys and most of the time we still don't get there in time. Got lucky their QB isn't very accurate.

His speed is a much bigger problem than his size. Combined, uhh…

Dline last year kept offensive line off York. Not so much this year makes it hard on a undersized lb.

Make that make sense for me. Our DL should be arguably better than last years group. Not to mention we are more often in 4 man fronts this year instead of 3…so why would Durkins 3 man front have been doing better keeping OL off the LB?

He is not having the success he did last season. Not having Cooper is having a huge impact on his play.

Still, a good and talented kid. Only a sophomore so he's got time to grow and learn. I believe he can get back to last year's form.

He sucked last year too. People were just hanging on to a freshman award and ignoring the man standing next to him. I said the same thing last year. Not sure what people were watching. Anyway, it's quite obvious this year. We need major help at LB, CB, OL, and WR. We have one decent RB after Owens went down and our only good receiver doesn't play anymore for some reason. Neither QB over 60% somehow. I'm honestly not sure how this program got to this point with these resources. Pretty amazing.

This is just wrong

Frankly, while sucks is a bit harsh, this is the true observation from last year that many either overlook or don't look at the games in detail. There were so many times last year where he was in the wrong place or easily blocked or too slow to cover. Coop's play helped cover this up in so many ways.

Great kid, smart kid, understands all of it, but he's not our top LB (really not even 1st team IMO other than having the football IQ). It is what it is and why LB needs upgrading (do think DeShields and Scooby have potential to get thur this year, but really hoping Jernigan and Lockhart can improve the position after some extensive SEC playing experience).

York will be a head coach one day, but unfortunately that will not win us football games right now. He is the single biggest problem with entire Defense IMO.

He makes all the calls and lines up players, but opposing offenses routinely run their schemes directly at him and the rest of our secondary tries to cover up for him which then exposes them on the backend.

Last year an All-America LB allowed us to play around his continued inability to shed blocks and getting completely mauled out of the play.

He's down from 3 tackles per game to 2 per game.

Elko is supposed to be analytical, but he continues to coach like a career coordinator and unable to look at facts objectively and fix the problem with potentially unpopular player decisions.

There are multiple ways to cover up for York's skill gap and playing "only" 2 LBs in most sets is not how to fix this. Get on the f'ing phone with Slocum and review a decade worth of film on how to stop the spread offense w/3 LBs on the field.

i think some of it could be schematic. durkin finally realized last year how best to utilize the talent he had and didn't have by blitzing jv the **** out of teams. this helped cover up our inadequacies in the secondary to a degree. it also changed a lot about how york was asked to play. he cleaned up the trash that didn't get sacked but was altered. i don't see elko blitz nearly as much as durkin did over the last 9-10 games last year. so it changes what is being asked of york in some ways which may be exposing his more limited physical traits. he is still a good player but maybe not the next coming of dat nguyen.

I haven't paid a ton of close attention to the LB but York is our leading tackler.

I've seen more issues with Scooby than York
