NIU QB had better footwork
Notre Dame is now the best one loss team in the country.
No team should put any value in a first week win (or loss) especially when both teams had some major unknowns due to lack of experience. It could likely prove to be better to have lost the first game that was considered to a big game. Players and even coaches instinctively seem to believe the hype with a first week win. The reverse is that the losing teams players and coaches hopefully have a fire lit to address the exposed weaknesses.
How may times in the last 25-years has an opposing qb come in and beat A&M looking like a Heisman candidate only to get destroyed the very next week?
How about that.
Will be interesting to see if ND makes the playoff if they have 2 losses, with one being this catastrophic defeat today. They have a very easy schedule overall but play at USC to end the season.

That dude was nowhere near Heisman caliber last week. He made a few more plays needed to win one game.
Notre Dame's 16-14 loss home loss to Northern Illinois makes our 23-13 home loss to Notre Dame look worse. ND must have been underprepared for NIU a week after beating us at Kyle Field.

Hell on multiple occasions he threw the ball to the opposite route that the receiver ran or threw the ball closer to coverage than the receiver.
He was not in a good head space to say the least. Any decent team should have beat us by 30

Their secondary was very good. They didn't give an inch. People can say what they want about ND, but the next two NFL drafts are going to have a lot of their guys in it
We suck
Tells me our defense might not be as good as thought. Blaming Weigman and receivers may not be the only problem. I realize NIU has a game to plan off. But obviously Irish offense is just not that good.
