Some anonymous recruits from the All American Bowl pull back the curtain on their NIL deals. Big money boosters, err I mean collectives are making it rain.

But posters here believe that the pay is purely for the value of their name, image and likeness.

I'd sure like to get a look at one of those contracts just to see all the incentives and stipulations put into them such as playing time and performance numbers. Also like to see the bottom line of what actual get to the student once the handlers and agents get their cut.

Wait a minute…….we were told on this very forum that the money was overblown. Now add in the 6 figures worth of scholarship money.

College athletes have become a joke. It breaks my heart. I'll continue to watch and cheer, but it's irrelevant now.

The only known figure we have seen was the Florida contract that went to court. The kid was a 4 star dB at 3 million a year. Wasn't paid that's why it went to court but I don't think 5stars get 1 million and Florida is so bad at business they offer this kid 3 a year for 4 years.

I've read several comments (don't remember who) that NIL isn't pay-to-play.

Is that similar to the anonymous coaches interviews on articles with clear agendas.

The funny thing is maybe these recruits are getting these deals and maybe they are just making it up. But if all the recruits start saying they are getting all this money, then collectives and such will feel like they have to offer that much to have a chance with a recruit.

It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

I am stunned by the story of the Florida DLineman's contract. $400k for 15% of your NFL career? That's just criminal. How could you sign that?

I wonder how that works if he doesn't make it to the NFL...most guys don't anyway.

How could an 18-year old take $400k NOW in exchange for selling 15% of his future? Easy, he's 18!

Actually not that hard to square. Do the math. I'm not sure which Florida d lineman was able to potentially trade 15% of future nfl income for $400k, but I would be willing to bet the vast majority (by far) of highly recruited college players (even high four stars) end up making less than $3M in the NFL.
Now if the kid was a guaranteed first or second rounder, okay I can see that being a bad deal, but I think the numbers work against "making it big."
Also you have no idea what is going on in that kid's life- maybe he has a sick mom, parents losing the house, maybe he has a kid, etc.
Lots of factors here.

*** edit i found the story and see he ended up taking like $437k for around $1M. Not a great deal for him but again hard to begrudge him without knowing all the facts.

Kids deserve a cut of the money. I hope that we are competitive and fair with our NIL.
