While I don't really care about basketball (went to a game against SMU and tu at the old Holler House on the Brazos during my student years and have not been to a game at Reed), no way this % is true. Plenty of folks love the game, and even people who don't have an interest such as me would love to see A&M produce a highly successful basketball program.

Watching the current product is like watch Jimbo's offense with King or Calzada at the helm, unwatchable. Lose games they are not suppose to, not a fun product, not a lot of player improvement. Is buzz Jimbo? Need to get an AD that can hire winners and not extend coaches when they achieve mediocrity

He gives Jimbo a stupid extension when it was not justified, then fires Jimbo putting A&M on the hook for millions for years. Then after messing things up, he just packs up and leaves to OSU so he does not have to deal with the aftermath.

Sounds like typical American C-level behavior to me.

This. And if it's outsiders that want the extension he needs to tell them better fish out there and don't worry about losing this one. Needs to be able to provide better advice if not the one actually making decisions. We do make ridiculous extensions for mediocrity.

I would love to watch a good Aggie basketball team. I'd wager more would watch vs baseball if we ever built up and semblance of consistent success but we all know what to expect at this point.

I've been telling my buddies for a few games now that Buzz has a good chance of losing his job….Yes, this product on the court is downright Horrific…..

When you only get 2000 to 3000 students out of 70k then the number of 95% isn't that far off

And we were excited for basketball season after the dreadful football season. Disappointed is an understatement. I cringe to say how excited I am for baseball, I don't want to get used to this perpetual disappointment.

Our entire athletic department is pretty abysmal given the money we pump into it.

Yall are so casual that you don't know what Sharp has done for us as an institution. Our academic rankings and research program have climbed to new heights because of him. Good luck replacing that guy.

If someone can name a specific proven action he's done to botch our athletics please reference them. What's good moving forward is President Welsh is capable of keeping Sharp out of athletics (if he has in fact messed things up). His AD search committee is indicative of that

As for interest, or lack of interest, in various sports, I want A&M to have good sports teams across the board. You don't have to have season tickets at mid-court to think we should excel at whatever we do. As for Buzz, in my opinion, he's a great man and someone we can be proud to have leading our BB program on many levels. But he needs to win more. I'm not a savant, but he seems to be so intense developing and employing his system that we're not developing and maintaining the fundamental skills that allow us to win consistently…namely being able to make shots..

"Everybody" don't matter. It is just the boss who decides and is ultimately responsible. Bjork gave him the extension and Bjork fired him. The entire episode was a big blunder and a huge financial loss. Then he just packed off and left and I bet got himself a good deal.

Basketball is about RECRUITING… Recruit better. Hire a coach who can recruit great. A&M doesn't recruit itself in basketball whatsoever.

Agreed, the Holler House was awesome for a basketball game. That tu game I went to, I think that was February of 1989, it was literally freezing outside with icy roads and all that, yet the stadium was packed and it was raucous.

I wonder if we hire a real AD this time around instead of some puppet that is in place to raise money and do what boosters say? How about an AD that can help to instill a winning culture, understands what it takes to win, can put boundaries in place between the boosters and the specific program, has a rolodex of coaches that can recruit and win at a high level. It seems like we are in a weird place athletically; obviously football was a mess but it looks to be moving in the right direction quickly. But basketball is headed towards a cliff and there is no excuse. Baseball looks great. Seems like track & field and most women's sports are second tier. Feels like 2003 around here minus the quality baseball.
