It is a biased systems that only benefits teams that get the most clicks.

Also, all season we were told that head-to-head matters, but somehow Georgia ended up in front of Bama.

Other examples:

No. 9 Mizzou beat No. 7 Ohio State and moved up 1 spot.
No. 22 Oklahoma St beat Unranked Texas A&M and moved up 6 spots.
No. 3 Texas trailed the entire game and lost and didn't move.
No. 6 Georgia wins by 60 pts vs No. 4 and only moves up 2 spots.


End media control/influence on the sport and create a system like the pros. Win and you are rewarded. Lose and you aren't.

College football was great because it wasn't like the pros.

The only official duty based on the championship game under the BCS was the Coaches agreeing to vote the winner the national champion. The game speaks for itself (including whatever flaws you perceive are endemic.)

The pros are more-or-less a level playing field. College is definitely not a level playing field. I don't see how you can take subjectivity out of it and still factor in strength of schedule, different conference strengths, and the like.

Multiple tiers with relegation/promotion. Take the subjectivity out. Until then, it's just a beauty/popularity contest.

Does anyone at all care about any ranking but #1 at the end of the season?

Your first two are totally valid but horn had the ball in the red zone to win the game and beat the other final four team head to head. Where are you going to put them? And despite curb stomping FSU UGA lost to Bama just a few weeks ago, where are you going to put them?

My problem is with pre-season polls. They do create unfair advantages with media exposure and with early season losses (verses teams that start outside the top 20).

Eliminate all preseason polls and this thing will sort itself out.

This whole website has been dedicated to the illegitimacy of college football lately. It's so stupid and makes those who think it's somehow a new thing either stupid or pathetically stressed out about Texas.
Georgia was either 1 or 2 in reality. They lost within a system that couldn't overcome it. That's only happened 88,000 times in college football history.

No more votes by press or coaches. Each school gets a ranking set by their rival's fans who have a better handle on the situation.

This. Plus the FSU team that Georgia beat in the Orange Bowl was in no way the #4 team in the country. FSU had a golden opportunity to show everyone that they belonged but they decided to throw a temper tantrum and take their toys and go home. I have no sympathy for them.

This guy gets it. It's the FIFA-WWE-NBA model, oozing its way into your CFB viewing enjoyment.

The ranking I've looked at over the years is the Massey Composite rankings of 65 different computer and human polls. No one ranking is perfect, but more rankings probably removes bias.

Every rating system is going to have things that don't look right to they eyeballs because of lunacy like:
Ohio beating Iowa State beating K-State beating Texas beating Bama beating GA.
