Just ran down the 2022 recruiting class really quickly (some info may be wrong so correct if so) but overall a lot of kids have moved on or haven't lived up to the hype. If they have a lot of the players have moved onto other schools

  • Walter Nolen - Great player - transfer
  • Evan Stewart - Had his ups and downs - transfer
  • Shemar Stewart - Good recruit
  • Gabriel Brownlow Dindy - Good recruit
  • LT Overton - transfer
  • Conner Weigman - Good player
  • Chris Marshall - Gone
  • Anthony Lucas - Gone
  • Enai White - Injured but still here
  • Denver Harris - Transfer but may be coming back
  • Smoke Bouie - Transfer
  • PJ Williams - Transfer
  • Malick Sylla - Still here
  • Bryce Anderson - Still here
  • Jacoby Mathews - Still here
  • Kam Dewberry - Still here
  • Jake Johnson- Transfer
  • Leveon Moss - Still here
  • Marquis Groves Killebrew - Transfer
  • Donovan Green - Still here
  • Hunter Erb - Still here
  • Bobby Taylor - Still here
  • Noah Thomas - Still here
  • Theo Melin Ohrstrom - Still here
  • Martell Harris - Still here
  • Ish Harris - Gone
  • Jarred Kerr - Still here
  • Mark Nabou - Still here
  • Jadon Scarlett - Still here
  • Ethan Moczulski - Still here

It's like that everywhere. A small number of players end up being difference makers. Maybe we've had a little more attrition than normal because of a coaching change but this class still has enormous potential going into their third season with Conner leading the way.

I might be in the minority here, but I don't feel Walter was a "great player" here. Especially being the #1-2 player coming out of HS

Everyone loves to mock us for this class and the "exodus" thereafter, but the reality is that through all the bad of the last two seasons, we only lost 11 out of the 30. Break it down further and two of those players were kicked off their next team without playing a snap and Jake was probably going to follow Max with whatever decision he made.

Not something to hang your hat on, but a talking point that is often overexaggerated in the national media.

Very few things live up to the hype

I agree.

I do feel he was solid for us but not great. Not a game changer so far. But the sad part is I am pretty sure next year will be his best year. He may be great next year.

The remaining players would still grade out to be our highest ranked recruiting class in the modern era and a top 4 class overall. That's assuming no other team lost anyone. Probably would end up 2nd or 3rd by the time you remove their transfers, too.

That doesn't include some other 2022's that have transferred in, such as Sam McCall even though he hasn't done anything yet, and whoever we get this year. Maybe Nic Scourton?

There's a reason why, even with last year's 15th ranked high school class (10th overall with transfers) and this year's 21st ranked class (20th overall right now and likely to move up quite a bit after the next week or so), we are still going to be in the 5-7 range overall. Because 2022 was and is still rated so high.

Myles Garrett showed up as a "#1 Recruit" and was a complete bad ass monster right away! Nolan was definitely NOT that.

But it's also hard to say how good Nolan was/wasn't because our dumb butt D-Coordinator ran so many 3 man fronts which did nobody any favors. He was part of a complete coaching cluster ****!

The "hit" rate for that class is slightly lower than normal which I was surprised about. For being the number 1 class ever it should have been higher but lots of transfers for several reasons. A few players like M. Harris and Theo were considered long term projects that we hopefully see them contribute this year.
