I know we all can invidually, but when does fans form a coalition and use their purchasing power to good use? I hear players all the time say, "I just play for my teammates". Isn't the donors, ticket holders, merchandise shoppers, and TV viewers the ones that make it work? It's funny, the networks, the coaches, the players, heck, even the university administration thinks they have the power, but all along its been us. Fans Opt-Out Union!

I am opting out round half or whenever my old arse falls asleep.

Fans are all talk when it comes to opting out.

See NFL fans for reference: They were all supposed to stop watching after the CK kneeling drama, but ratings remain high. The good ole boys can't quit watching and playing fantasy football.

Totally agree with you. People don't have a life to where they can do without football for a while. People don't realize how good things would be if they'd just be disciplined enough to turn it all off for a year or two. Once the fans come to the bargaining table, all these high paid salaries, NIL, ticket prices, team merchandise will be only a fraction of what we pay today. Not to mention, I bet we could stop all this opting out of games.

What a dumb take.

Are you going to the bowl game, or are you going to "opt-out?"

Maybe you should hit the Transfer Portal. You are not required to donate, attend, or watch Aggie Football.

If you don't like the product or the participants...then "opt-out."

You don't need a Union... just a backbone.

Great question. Notionally when the airwaves are saturated. But the reality is that college football has a decently long offseason that is neatly connected to fan Friday Night Lights memories in their hometown.

When moms stop letting their kids play football is the likely death knell, but the path to the NFL remains a path out of poverty and paying college players broadens that opportunity. The only people complaining are probably whites that prefer shamateurism where the money stays under the table…

I mean we the people say the same thing about politics and the government, yet we continue to vote in the same garbage representatives from both sides of the aisle year after year. People in general rarely rock the boat

Hell, just see Aggie fans for reference: They can't stop talking about coaches that are gone (Jimbo and Addazio) and constantly bemoan things they have no influence on (hiring and recruiting) while continually doing the things they can control (attend/watch games, posting on TexAgs).

Yet here you are posting on a football forum on a Wednesday, mid-afternoon.

Dumb take? His point is one person doesn't matter. It takes a major intersection of fans and fans with money to stop sending/watching to have any impact. By yourself you're just a wallflower.

I've already "grown a backbone" and opted out of so-called college football, including the minor league team that wears Aggies on its jerseys.

Grew up in the Brazos Valley, always been a (loyal)t-shirt fan. Went to a tech school instead of traditional college.

There are a lot of posters in the Zoo that have Ag tagged accounts that have been perma'd

With all of the "not another dime", "I'm done", etc. folks, I'm guessing the stadium will be pretty near empty. Going forward. That's assuming of course that's not hyperbole and they actually real do attend games and donate to the program

Why does it have to be so dramatic? There was a time when I studied the opponent all week, listened to the radio show, listened to pre-game, post-game, etc.

Now I watch the game, and that's it. It's 3.5 hours per week, and then I let it go. I don't consider the players to be Aggies (they're one year contractors to me) but they're contracted to my school for that year.

Since I assume this is the very last "I'm opting out of college football" post on Texags. I'll help some folks here understand out how to opt out of something. You can start tonight! It's super easy. When the game comes on tonight just don't watch. Then when next season rolls around keep not watching. Some of you may be inclined to keep logging in to the Texags football forum to complain about how football is ruined. Resist that urge! The football forum is not for you because you are someone who has voluntarily opted out of an activity that you chose to quit.

Just nut up and do it already. Nobody effing cares. If you don't like it, don't go to the games. Don't watch the games on TV. Don't spend time on the message boards.

Most of you are all talk anyway. Talk a good game but when it comes down to it, y'all gonna fall in line.

I'll opt out when the name in the front of the jersey changes. I've rooted for the Ags as a local, a student and a former student for about 45 years. I ain't stopping now. That maroon ATM suits up, and I'll be watching.

Exactly, turn off the Aggie game and switch to a game where quality football is played until the Aggies start playing more than just average football.

First of all, I have opted out of watching anything professional and watching my Aggies is down to watching a few games a year. I get on TexAgs mainly for Religion and Politics forum . Secondly, at the rate I'm going, I'll be completely through with Aggie football very soon. I guess by reading most of the posts here in the forum, most like high prices for tickets and merchandise, paid players, NIL, transfers, opt outs, no loyalty, etc, etc. My point is that you hold the power if you, and the greater fans of all college football, can exude some sort of restraint of attending, watching, or purchasing anything to do with the sport. Not only will you get your sport you love, but you get a table at the seat of money decisions. This forum, unfortunately, just proves the point that you can't get people to form as one and walk out of anything. Most don't have a life outside of Aggie football, I guess.

I have been thinking the same thing. The fans and supporters are getting the shaft and have very little input in the overall quality of college football. The main issue there is NO ONE looking out for the overall health D1 college football. What's left is mismanaged money grabbing mess. Some one or group will soon come in and buy college football, form a super division of participating schools they will probably look to acquire to top 35-60 money earning schools. They will break away from the NCAA will try to keep the teams relationship intact with each school. Each team might possibly play 2-3 game a year to the remaining schools to fill out their schedules. They will have divisions , playoffs and have a champion.

I will help you understand opting out. Not watching a minor bowl game on tv, not watching next season, not logging into Texags football forum makes no difference. Opting out of financially supporting something does. It's super easy.
