Old Ag here watching HS playoff highlights, College and some Pro games. All these kids are running their finger across their face and pointing downfield on first downs. Does this gesture mean what I think it does or is their some new meaning to the finger under the nose? If not then it's pretty messed up seeing it all over the place now. Help me out.

i think its *not* the throat slash if that's what you're getting at ... if so, i had a similar reaction. first time i saw one of our guys do it while we were driving for a go ahead td, i thought for sure it was about to be a 15 yrd penalty...

It also starts with the pa announcer no matter which stadium you're at. And that's another fighting Texas Aggie first down. Or any other school name.
Except they are moving their hand/fingers towards the first down or to the EZ advancing too. Not wiping away.

Nothing beats Johnny Jolly celebrating a TFL when we were down 77-0 and the ball carrier had essentially just laid down for a nap.

We used to make fun of the HS antics of the Cougar High crowd. Now of course, if it's "for the kids", by definition it must be noble and virtuous.

I'm in my 40's and still think poop is funny, is that good or bad?
I had the last 2 years of RC and the first 3 years of Fran when I was a student. First downs were about all we had to celebrate
My question is why are some things flagged for celebration and not others?

I love it when defense gets a sack or something on first or second down then run 15 yards up field in celebration. Offenses should go into hurry up and catch the defense trying to run back trying to get into position.

How does one answer the question when the kiddos ask what does that mean when an NFL, college, HS or Jr high player does that? Oh well, sweetheart it means they just had their hands inside a girls private parts and they are smelling it in victory and the pointing means first down.
What about the "let me pull my foreskin down so you can see my ****head" touchdown celebration, and the "safety first, put that seatbelt on kids" pass-breakup celebration?
That about sums it up.
