Hey guys, need some advice. My wife is an Aggie. We both are from, and live, in Lake Charles, LA. So about 3.5 hours away. I've fallen in love with A&M because of her over our last 15 years of marriage. Over the last 10-12 years, we've gone to a football game almost every year. We have young kids and they take up alot of our time, plus I have a job where I take call one weekend every 6 weeks. So every year when the schedule comes out, we have to sit down and look at everything to see which weekends we could even make a game fit. Ideally, we'd like to make 2-3 games per year. I guess my question is, what is yalls opinion? Is it worth it to get season tickets, and sell the ones we don't want to go to? I'm absolutely not trying to make any money off the sells, just recoup some of what we paid. Or, should we just continue to do what we've been doing and just buy the tickets to the 1-3 games we want to go to each year off of stubhub? Again, keep in mind, at 3.5 hours away, we're not that far, but also not that close.

Also, are there any other ways of doing it that may fit my situation? I just saw if I donate to the 12th man, at a certain level, i get access to donor ticket presales. Is that a good option? Are there people out there who go in half on season tickets with each other and is there a forum for that?

Again, looking for any and all ideas and advice. Thanks!!

My friend and I used the $399 Gig' Em Pass, which has 7 vouchers, this past year. We redeemed 2 passes (14 vouchers) for the Auburn (5 vouchers), Alabama (4 vouchers), and Mississippi State (5 vouchers) games. You can redeem multiple vouchers for one game. I think that would be a good option for you and your wife to make 2-3 games per year.

In 2022, we bought the 3-game Flex Pack, which consists of one cupcake game and 2 conference games or 1 conference game and 1 Power 5 nonconference game. We used our flex-pass on the Sam Houston (9/3/2022), Miami (9/17/2022), and Florida (11/5/2022) games. The options were one cupcake game (Sam Houston, Appalachian State, or UMass), Ole Miss or Florida, and Miami or LSU.

Because the Alabama game was in extremely high demand, it was not an option for the 2023 Flex Pack. So, we purchased the 2023 Gig' Em Pass. The limit for the Alabama game was 2 vouchers per Gig' Em Pass, and we redeemed 4 vouchers from 2 Gig' Em Passes for that game.

Hadn't heard of this before. I'm confused though... you said you used it for Alabama but it wasn't available for Alabama?

we go to one or two games a year. And I would absolutely sell tickets for more than face value if you can get it. Seatgeek is the Aggies chosen site for selling, but it does come with a fee. or use the Ticket Exchange forum on Texags

If the Aggies are successful and you don't plan to make all of the games, you could almost recoup your cost selling late season SEC games.

This year not so much.

The part of the ticket cost that goes to the 12th man is tax deductible if you can itemize.

I think it's a great idea. You can sell the tickets you don't use and usually recoup a portion of what they cost you. Just make sure when you sell, you don't sell to txsquarebody. He's a Jackass

This is very interesting and sounds like it may fit my situation. So let me ask you this. Whats the difference in the gigem pass and the flex pass? Which one did you like better? Also, how were the seats for each?

Any season tickets you get will be more than face value due to the "donation" and unless you are willing to spend 10x (at least) face value for the donation, they will be really bad seats. Frankly, it would probably be way more than 10x to get decent seats. If you are only going to 2 or 3 games a year, you will likely spend less and get better seats just by doing after market; not to mention the flexibility of just getting the games you can make, and get to quit and see game time, and don't have to mess selling the crappy games for no money. Just my $0.02.

Sorry, I mistyped that paragraph. When my friend and I were about to buy the 3-game flex pass, the Alabama game wasn't an option for that pass. So, we decided to buy the Gig' Em Pass, and we redeemed 4 vouchers from 2 Gig' Em Passes for the Alabama game. The limit for the Alabama game was 2 vouchers per Gig' Em Pass.

The 3-game Flex Pack was for $215 in 2022 and $250 in 2023, and you have select one game from 3 sets of games, which includes one cupcake game. Every seat will be the same for the Flex Pack. For the Gig' Em Pass, you can use 7 vouchers for one game or across all 7 home game. I like the Gig' Em Pass game better because you don't have to go to a cupcake game, unlike the Flex Pack. The seats are randomized for each game that you redeem under that pass: (419 for Auburn, 346 for Alabama, and 343 for Mississippi State) and determined about 48 hours before kickoff.

Under normal circumstances I would say no but with 3 premium home games maybe you do get the season tickets

tu ND and LSU all come to Kyle next year Probably still better to go through the secondary market

It is universally hated but given that you live in Shreveport you could get to Jerryworld also at Starkvegas might work

On buying part of a season ticket package you will need to find your partner then be prepared to pounce when season ticket holders list their tickets for sale
There always some on ticket exchange change in life situation and people want to sell this years but not give up the tickets

make sure he is somebody you can work people can become total aholes about tickets

Everybody has a different opinion of what is fair

If you decide to buy tickets or sell tickets using the TexAgs forum is best as there are no fees attached to your tickets. Check it out!!

Personally I am in a similar situation as my kids are 4/5. I have 4 season tickets but I sell them each year upfront for cost essentially. I then just buy tickets the day before the game. Usually you save money. If we ever have a great year you may pay up for a few games.

I'd suggest not buying season tickets, unless you want to start building points for better seats in the future. They prioritize selection based on point #s

No it's not. At least not anymore for the last few years. If you've been doing this and get audited, be prepared to pay it back.

My wife and I are both Aggies and live about 4.5 hours away from Aggieland. We ditched our season tickets years ago for several reasons.

What we do now is buy tickets to 1 or 2 games a year, sometimes a road game, and get good seats. I usually buy my tickets here or on StubHub. I pay up for them. Get a hotel, and make a weekend of it. We also do this for 1 baseball weekend a year. We love doing it this way!

+2 for Gig 'Em Pass. I used to have season tickets. Never could attend all home games. My job is busiest during the Fall. I would sell the games I couldn't attend to other Aggies at work.

The Gig 'Em Pass allowed me to cherry pick the games I could attend. 1 pass = 7 vouchers (tickets). You can use these vouchers how ever you want. As previously stated, the only limitation was 2 maximum for Alabama game. I suspect this will be the same limitation for the tu game next season.

If something arises where you cannot attend the game, you CAN cancel your voucher without losing it. Just call TMF and reschedule the voucher for another game.

The wild card is the vouchers are e-mailed to you 48 hours before kickoff. You DO NOT know where you are sitting until you receive them. I have sat in nose bleeds in North & South zone, under shade on West side, under shade on 1st deck South side. It all depends on luck of the draw.

We have season seats, my daughter is a fish this year and my wife and I are both former students. We went to 4 games this year. Our seats aren't amazing, corner endzone, upper deck, row 10. As I recall our total cost was just over $500 per ticket for the season. I sold one game on StubHub this year (South Carolina) and made back my costs plus a little for that game. You can make some money on the premium games, you will lose money on the throwaway games. Next season is a little different because there are two premium games (ND and LSU) and one super premium game (tu). If you are willing to sell a premium game and go to a throwaway or two you could probably break even.

I've had season seats to the Texas Rangers for a while and my overall experience is that you generally will be lucky to break even for the year (assuming you accept paying face value for the tickets) because the fees on StubHub or Seatgeek kill a lot of your profits. The only time I ever made money on season tickets was the years the Rangers went to the World Series and I sold post season seats.

I'll be keeping my season seats for a least the next 6-8 years because I will have kids at A&M but I'm not sure if it would be worth all the travel for us if we didn't have kids there (we are in Fort Worth).
