Which is it?

Mark Stoops is a coach who's career has stalled out at a middling to crappy major program and he's got no answers on how to keep it going (in reality he made hay while some major powers were down but didn't cash in until it was too late). This is his chance to see if its just UK that was keeping him down, which is a better explanation for him than "I am just a mediocre head coach"

I completely understand him. What i don't understand is our motivation for over paying for this experiment.

Stoops's record has not been much different from Rich Brooks's tenure at Kentucky and the East was MUCH better when Brooks was there. That was when Florida had Meyer, Tenn (Fulmer), Georgia & S. Carolina (Spurrier) were all good.

The East has been very mediocre for most of Stoops tenure and he could never breakthrough despite Mizzou doing it.

Not to mention losing to South Carolina last two years in a row, and Vanderbilt last year. I son't buy the "but Kentucky isn't a football school". They recruit better than those two schools so that doesnt hold water.

This is a bad hire but so be it Sumlin was a bad hire, fisher was a bad hire ,sherman was a bad hire Gene Stallings was ok,emory ballard was ok.tom Wilson was terrible. Hank Foldberg was the sorriest coach we ever had, Jackie Sherril was great, Tom Meyers was the second worse coach, Slocum was the best coach we ever heard after Bear. I listed the coaches that I saw at Kyle Field coach Aggie Football

Temd to agree. Give him a shot. People laughing at his record don't appreciate hate how terrible a football program Kentucky is. He won 10 games there twice. They had won 10 games once since 1950 before he got there. You simply can't predict what he will do with much more talent at his disposal. The last time he had our level of talent potential was FSU. He had the 6th ranked scoring defense and 2nd ranked yardage defense in 2012 and was top 5 in both categories in 2011.
