Semi-Longtime assistant on MONSTER CFB program..

1. Obviously knows how to recruit talent…
2. Obviously knows how to coach talent…
3. Young enough to give you many years of service…
4. Exposure to and learned from the "best" coaching systems…

Why not just hire Kirby and be done with it?

If Jimbo and Sumlin have taught us anything, it should be that it's all a crap-shoot. You can go hire the young, up-and-comer with good coaching pedigree from a small school, give him unlimited resources and he can fail. Or you can go hire the proven vet with a Natty in his trophy case, a great pedigree, give him unlimited resources and he can fail. At the end of the day, you gotta have some luck.

If I were king of the world, I would make people stop saying "methodology" when "method" is appropriate.

Absolutely right.

Fran was the hottest thing since sliced bread

Sherm came from the NFL

Sumlin came from an up and coming school

Jimbo has a natty.

A&M has tried every coaching strategy and failed

It's not the hiring that's the issue per se. It's the stupid contracts. No performance incentives with opt out clauses/improvement expectations after underperforming seasons.

Because Kirby ain't leaving until his alma mater tells him they're done with him or he retires from coaching altogether. Neither are happening in the near future.

The Sumlin hire was not a hiring of an up and comer. It was hiring someone who was a jogging buddy of a BMA and familiar with A&M.

It was as close as we ever got to and up and comer tho.

Blinders were on and it needs to be the way to go again but this time without the bias towards someone who "gets" A&M.

You mean like having a starting QB for the whole season? Last time Fisher had that he led our team to its best finish in over 80 years and then signed the best recruiting class EVER a year later!

We got the best recruiting class ever because we beat Bama in front of an electric enormous 12th Man crowd with every stud recruit in attendance. Being a huge and passionate fan base sells!
