I think it blends better with the color of footballs.
I do remember once reading in an old "Longhorn" that
the students had voted "royal purple" to be A&M's color.

They're all the official ones , yes. Keep in mind that depending on use (digital, printing, matte pant, glossy paint like in Reed) you can acquire the color visually somewhat differently.

Like 10 years ago they decided on an official maroon with Adidas. I used to see stuff all the time that was Crimson to reddish brown. I don't respect adidas so I wont formally recognize our current purplish maroon as THE maroon

Years ago, there used to be an Aggie maroon paint choice at either Home Depot or Lowe's. They probably still sell it. I considered it for an outside door but went with the color of the American beautiberry instead.

At the game at Neyland a few weeks ago, my Vol brother in law asked me why the sorority girl next to him was wearing a red jersey. It said Texas A&M, Manziel, had the #2, but the damn thing was red. Not just light maroon, it was red. It would have fit in fine in Tuscaloosa.

I like the darker secondary color on that link even better (see below). I'd still like that with a bit more brown and less purple though.

But it's pure red…just desaturated some. And keep in mind unless your monitor on your computer has a decent color profile or has been color corrected that could cause misacquisition of color. That's why artists often have their own hardware monitor calibration tool.
