Yes, let's establish a committee to figure out how we should 'commemorate' texas

Are you ******* kidding me?

If anyone wanted proof that our university and athletic leadership is just a bunch of paid mercenaries who don't understand A&M, this is it.

When someone tries to screw you over, you don't 'commemorate' them. When someone tries to extort you, you don't 'commemorate' them. When someone convinces your business associates, i.e. business partners, to keep you in the dark to make a deal you know goes against your best interests, you don't 'commemorate' them.

We shouldn't need to explain this simple concept to the people in charge in College Station, but here we are.

I don't think Texag's hatred of the rivalry is truly representative of the general Texas A&M or University of Texas alumni, students, and fans.

I don't see anything wrong with attempts to promote the rivalry. Not doing so would be a missed opportunity.

Not reading, but govt employees are govt employees...whether US, state, or local level. Their priorities are just different.

Univ systems are connected and many in high levels aren't concerned about athletic programs outside of 'profitable' and if the football program is funding the other sports for equality.

All the coaches are connected...maybe not best friends (some are), but guarantee it's a game of taking care of each other regardless and who they have connections with or don't.

When all the mult-millionaire, mercenary coaches meet in their 'association', it's prob a nice giggle fest of the whole scenarios they live thru albeit well paid.

This is the monetization committee. TAMU is only concerned with how it can maximize money off this event. Nothing else. Just like the focus of every other university unfortunately. We are no different these days.

I don't get what this commemorization is going to entail. But I wouldn't be surprised if they had everyone wear burnt orange for the game. After all, we are doing a maroon out in a game against the only team on the schedule that wears maroon.

Yeah, but the shirts have Ol' Sarge on them.

But yeah, getting upset about this is stupid. It's a bunch of people who likely haven't had dealings with the sips of old, and are simply looking at this from the marketing aspect of THE BIG RIVALRY to be promoted like UMich/OhioSt, etc.

tu already lives in the minds of a lot of Aggies already- you see it all the time at a game- the morons doing the horns down hand sign when we haven't played them in some time. We don't need to promote the "renewing" of the rivalry- I think it will organically pick up where it left off.

Even if both teams are pretty bad, that first game is going to sell out with tickets going for a pretty penny on the secondary market. Thats all you need to know about how the larger, less online fanbases feel about the rivalry.

texags may be the extreme view, but I'm pretty sure even the most casual former Ag and football enthusiast knows tu is manipulative, narcissistic and condescending as an institution. It is like being forced to let an abusive ex move into your new home. Why would you celebrate that? Of course we hate them but we were better without them. Nothing to celebrate here.
