I don't know if I'm in the majority or minority opinion here, but I've always thought CBS games were much better done overall. Our games on ESPN are always a cluster and I can't ever find the game. The commentating is better as well.

The commercial breaks are usually 2:30 v 4:00 on ESPN

I'm really dreading the move to ABC/ESPN next year and hope it's short lived.

Anyone agree?

Their production quality is top notch. I will miss them. ESPN is Raycom in comparison.

Yup, CBS productions focus on the pageantry, sounds and experience of college football, everything that makes this sport great. ESPN focuses on hot takes, outlandish commentators and off field drama, everything that makes this sport unwatchable at times.

CBS broadcasts in 1080i and ESPN does 720p and in the early days of HD TV i wouldn't have noticed but tvs are so much better these days, it's hard not to notice.

I will greatly miss the CBS productions. It's clearly the best product. They invest more into the cultures and uniqueness of the schools.

. The number commercial breaks on CBS makes the game almost unwatchable. At one point last fall I was watching a game in the DVR catching up and in .a span of 15-minutes on the screen, there was only 3 minutes of game coverage

As long as they stay out of our huddle (unlike the 90 tu game).

Cbs is great for Saturday football and I will miss the sec games. On the other hand this espn/ABC you speak of is like watching TV in some foreign country for me and I hate it.

I agree with the OP. I love watching SEC on CBS games, and I will greatly miss that.

I'll always have a soft spot for CBS games because the first SEC game I watched on CBS happened on November 10, 2012 at 2:30 PM.

The music. The view of the crowds. The Johnny ****ing Football.

The best televised games were with Chris Schenkel calling them in the 60s and 70s. Better than Keith Jackson.

ABC was better with Keith Jackson calling the games.

As for CBS, agree, but Danielson is a tool, and he and to a lesser extent Nessler are clueless on way too many plays they try to commentate own.

I can't think of an ESPN announcer that isn't bad.

Or like this last week they came back from commercial, show one play and then went to another "tv timeout" commercial instead of just staying with it.

And that theme music has stood the test of time. I still get jacked when I hear it and it's been the same music for probably 35 years now.

CBS focuses on one game a week and since it's the SEC, many weeks it is the top game. CBS has been stealing money the past few years by paying $55M for the entire SEC. By comparison, ESPN pays $80M for just the Rose Bowl. CBS should have found the money to keep the SEC instead of overpaying for a second tier Big 10 games.

I am concerned that the SEC game will be just another game on the world wide leader. At the end of the Texas/OU game, you kept hearing that the North Carolina /Virginia Tech game would be starting on ESPS News. CBS keeps the focus on their game.

I miss Uncle Verne. CBS should have Verne and Bill call the Final Four.

CBS has more commercial breaks, but they are shorter in duration. Overall, I believe that the total time allocated for commercials on CBS and ESPN/ABC is the same. In person, the 3:10 and 3:25 commercial breaks on ESPN/ABC are a killer, that completely break the flow of the game. A 2:10 break doesn't seem as bad.

Production edge to CBS. Broadcast team, slight edge to CBS. CBS doesn't have Beth Mowins, RGIII, Kurt Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, or Pat McAfee. CBS. does have Gary Danielson, and if ABC/ESPN lost one of those five it would be even. With those five,CBS has the edge.

CBS has always been superior at CFB broadcasts. Only non-CBS PBP announcers I have enjoyed call a game more than theirs over the years were Keith Jackson and Ron Franklin. And their camera work, microphones, and entry song are light years ahead of anyone else.

Picture quality is better with CBS, but their announcers are the worst. I'm ready for Nessler and Danielson to keel over.

ESPN's cameras have been garbage this year. Their digital graphics are bright and sharp, but the actual broadcast of the field, players, etc. has been dark and grainy.

Yes. This. Their broadcasts have been trash. I've heard it has something to do with their satellite position with the sun?

I'm glad it's not just me who's noticed this. Really pathetic especially considering how much espn charges carriers (and thus all of us).
