Hey everyone in Aggie land!

I'm a BYU fan out in Utah coming to visit a buddy who is now stationed at Fort Hood. We are planning to come over for the game vs Bama and are looking for details from you diehard fans on what we need to see/do/eat besides the game itself.

Any details and suggestions are much appreciated! We are also still looking for tickets if anyone has something up for grabs. Thanks!

Do you drink alcohol? The answer to that question might change the type of suggestions you get.

A) I'm jealous
B) Get to the game at least 2 hours before kickoff and check on offerings of beer/food/water etc from tailgaters. You will not be disappointed
C) Drink and eat all that you can before entering Kyle Field...the food and drink offerings inside are stupidly expensive
D) After we kick Bama's ass, enjoy the after-game food and drink, again in the tailgating areas across Welborn Rd
E) Hit up The Dixie Chicken and other famous drinking establishments in Northgate
F) Throw up
G) Rally

Hahah that's a good point! No, we don't drink alcohol but we love football and food and seem to find our way to fun regardless. Excited to experience some SEC football out of the few teams that have come to Provo.

Go to the Dixie Chicken and watch all the Aggies drinking beer.

i would highly recommend midnight yell practice. if you have never been you will be amazed. you don't have to drink to enjoy the experience and it's free.

Great bike parking around the stadium I'm told, you will love our bee hive of community, wear your unitard onesie…it will be hot.

Seriously get there early, tour the msc, bonfire memorial, maybe bush library, etc

If you are a fan of George HW Bush, his presidential library is on campus and is a great place to spend some time. Amazing life and history in that museum.

Campus is huge - driving around it Saturday is impossible, so if you get in Friday afternoon do it then, and yes go to midnight yell at Kyle Field.

Notice the people and the culture - lots of Mormons go to A&M, might be a way for you to find some groups of them in advance to meet up with to tailgate, tour, restaurants, etc.

My Mormon friends don't drink, but I've noticed that they're world-class championship eaters.

This is what the shade situation will be around kickoff for Alabama. The shady side is the West Side, when looking for tickets.

Student side is the East Side.

SeatGeek is the 12thman Foundation's trader of choice this season. There is also a ticket forum here on TexAgs.

Maybe try both kinds of food in town (Mexican and BBQ).

Have a good trip!

Btw, "Fort Hood" doesn't exist anymore. Try to get with the program :-)

Never even rode a bike on my mission! Haha Walked through snow or drove a truck while in Montana so no bike parking needed.

My garments will probably make for a bit of a hot day but you're real old school if you're still wearing the onsie version and not the normal shirt and shorts style.

I'll add those things to the list. Thanks!

Great idea as there is an LDS institute of religion near all major universities. I'll have to see if there's a way to get in touch with them to share some Dr. Pepper!

It's true! When we're together with family and friends we cook, eat, do the dishes, and start cooking the next meal!

Aggie park is enjoyable to walk around
Aggie ring at Clayton Williams is impressive
Walk thru all tailgate areas. You will be welcome at any that look inviting. You will never go to a more hospital more tailgate environment that at Texas A&M

Get to the Stadium early just to take it all in.
MSC can take 30 minutes to an hour to go through
Northgate has multiple bars and restaurants. Dixie chicken is the most famous one. Good time walking through. Dixie chicken has a good burger.

Sidenote, depending on when you are arriving in the state (and if near Ft Hood or coming from DFW down I35) and you enjoy Dr Pepper, probably should find time to visit the Dr. Pepper Museum in Waco, Tx. (it's not fantastic, but neither is Waco). One of Waco's small claims to fame (ignoring the bad claims) is it being the birthplace of Dr. Pepper and used to always provide free samples (always confused on caffeine and Mormons perspectives...have had coworkers thru the years who adamantly stated no caffeine, but others say no issue, of course...to each their own!). Enjoy the visit!

Since your buddy is stationed at Ft. Hood, make your way to the Quad on campus about 90 minutes before kick-off and watch the Corps of Cadets march-in.

Get to Aggie Park on east side of stadium 3 hours early. Enjoy that & 2 hours before Kick off take short walk to the Quad where the Corp of Cadets live. Stand by the Flag Pole & watch the Aggie band & Corp march out headed to the stadium. After the band passes you, walk briskly to near the student center & watch the band & Corp approach on the way to Kyle Field.
New app - Gameday- claims to have last minute tickets. Check that out.
Be in your seat at least 30 minutes before KO.
We love showing off! Enjoy Aggieland.

If you get there early, parking is available just south of Kyle Field on George Bush Blvd. Easy walk to all the mentioned activities. $20.

They were advertising "new app: last minute tickets" last spring so I downloaded it. I watched what they had for Auburn. Plenty of cheap & fair number of good tickets at affordable $$.
I have season tickets so haven't tried it yet.

If you get lost between the parking lot and stadium, a kind Aggie will show you the way.

Make sure you come back and post your experience after.

It seems a shame to come all this way and not go to Midnight Yell Practice… even though it would add an overnight component to your trip. There's simply nothing like it. (And it would ensure you are close by by game time)

The bus system on Game Day makes life a LOT easier.

Oh, and wear YOUR school colors, to identify you as a non-Aggie, which will attract friendly attention and invitations from the tailgaters.

expect about 125,000 fans (from BAMA and A&M) on campus. If the Aggies have only one loss expect there to be over 105,000 people in Kyle Field.

Lots of tailgating and very large crowds.

Tickets.

This is not a bad place to get tickets and you avoid stubhub fees.

just be careful you know who you are dealing with. A lot of Aggie sell their season tickets for a game they can make. Alabama will be the most expensive game of the season.

you can either purchase a parking pass or catch a bus. In your situation, I would recommend a bus...

Routes - BusRoutes (tamu.edu)

click on the gameday tab. Those maps are kinda the pits. the buses start three hours before gametime and the take you back up to one hour after the game endsna

So go to midnight yell on Friday night, eat before the game, Dixie Chicken or Canes Chicken. It really depends on what you like to eat. Double daves pizza is a local pizza/calzone restaurant. Also Chicken Oil in Bryan is local

Get to the game early and catch one of the game day shuttle buses.

As said before there are also food trucks next to the stadium and get tickets on
Ticket Exchange Forum | TexAgs

create a post with WTB (wanted to buy). you can see what others do on there. Tickets won't be cheap. The higher you go the cheaper. But Bama is the most expensive game. Also if you don't mind standing up for most of the game you might be able to buy a ticket from a student, but then you would be surrounded by Aggie students. Also some seats have seat back, some have hard back and some are just bleachers

Here is the seating chart
