Washington State would blow the doors off of 95+% of teams in college football. Oregon State would beat 85% of teams in the FBS.

I'm not saying Deion isn't good. But he imported this team, staff, and culture- so last year's CU performance is completely irrelevant.

There's been a lot of teams historically with major changes from one year to the next, maybe not to the extent of CU this year, that had massive win total increases. Those teams were credited with "improving," or whatever word you want to use. Some had the same coach, others had new staffs. Baylor is one recent example. They had a huge roster turnover when Rhule and Aranda both came following bad seasons.

The point is that if people are saying CU "improved," they're using the same standards that have always been used -- and essentially the same facts that are occurring within CU's program now, give or take a dozen or more players. Keep in mind, its who's on the field (i.e. STARTERS) that counts. Not just roster players. A team that ends the year playing 30-ish total starters isn't going to win many games.

That game could have easily been 70-0 had Oregon not let off the gas. That is no coach of the year.

I don't know the background of players they took, other than the schools they came from, but I posted this on another thread.

Prime isn't playing with a bunch of Freshmen, or nobody players. 25 transferred from Power5 schools and 10 that played for him from Jackson St, including one that was the #1 recruit in the country.

They never were set up for a title run. Not sure why the goalposts got moved so far for them when everyone knew it was year one of a serious rebuild.

It's not irrelevant at all. Dion's job is to change the culture and create a new one. By the rules and results he has been wildly successful. You can argue with his methods but not the results.

Charlie Strong after going 6-7 his first year at Texas: "That will never happen again."

He was right. He went 5-7 the next two years in a row.

Oregon State and Washington state are crazy good. The Pac 12 is the best league in the country this year.
