I can't understand the hype with Ewers. He's had 1 maybe 2 good games ever. His stats against a crappy Wyoming team were abysmal. Weigmans stats have consistently been fantastic we lose games bc our head coach last year and our first lost this year was bc we just are inexperienced. I don't know why Weigman doesn't get much more National recognition. I know the media hates it but come on.

I'm OK with Weigman flying unnoticed. He'll get his proper recognition if we end up on a run in the SECW.

He's not necessarily going unnoticed. I listen to SEC Network in the mornings on the drive in to work. They were talking about a lack of elite QB play across the board in the SEC as the reason for the poor OOC record this year, but seem to all agree that Weigman may be either 1st or 2nd best QB in the league. Need a larger sample size and see him against SEC defenses to back that up.

Don't worry about it, opposing coaches and NFL scouts know what level of prospect Weigman is.

I said it in the lead up to last season when I was shocked that Jimbo chose King. Weigman is the best prospect I've seen come out of Texas since Drew Brees. Yes, that means better, as a prospect, than a lot of really good NFL QB's.

Ewers was never on Weigman's level, but no shame in that, most aren't.

Ewers stats over a longer period in 2022 season were similar (i.e., QB ratings were equal, but Ewers played more games and almost beat Bama until he got injured). Then in 2023 Ewers did beat Bama and CW lost to UM (not his fault, but how the public sees it).

I think CW is better (think tu has better overall OL which helps Ewers tremendously) and CW just needs more games and several signature wins.

Look at the total 2022 and 2023 stats and ultimately QBR....practically dead equal other than Ewers has 0 INTs in 2023.

After three games in 2023, Weigman ranks 2nd nationally. Ewers is ranked 30th. End of discussion.

Ewers is not a great qb. He's already at his ceiling.

Weigman is playing at such a high level right now. Seeing the field and throwing darts. The only thing missing from his game is better accuracy on the deep throws.

If he keeps this up, he'll be a consensus 1st round draft prospect after next season.

ewers is jeff george for those of you who are old enough to remember the former number 1 overall nfl draft pick. he has all the tools and throws a nice ball but i don't think he will ever be the elite player everyone thinks he should be based on raw talent.

All you have to know to understand the hype on Ewers is look at the name on the front of his jersey. I wouldn't trade 3 Ewers for one Weigman.

Ewers did unload for 131 yards passing yesterday vs Wyoming tho

I may be nit-picking you, but go back and look at the all-11 on several (at least 5) of the throws to Walker and Anias yesterday. Look at where Weigman leads the receivers on throws in the seam. Those throws were in the only place they could possibly be in to be completed. It's no accident that he is very rarely intercepted.

Weigman is deadly accurate on deep balls. Slight under-throws on deep balls are not misses. Perfect is great, but you almost always are better off making sure you don't overthrow.

Jeff George had 5x the arm Ewers has.

Or just about anyone else, for that matter.

ewers has no consistency. One week he's solid, next week he's barely a good HS QB. He torched OU, then goes scoreless against TCU last year. Goes for 350 against Bama then 130 against Wyoming. He'll cost the sips 2 games with that level on inconsistency.

I agree. How would you compare him to the starting quarterbacks of all 132 other FBS teams?

Thanks, I"ll hang up and listen.

Quinn Ewers is a game manager in the Texas offense. He takes care of the football (no picks in his last six games spanning 173 attempts) but doesn't throw a lot of TDs. He's also 5-1 in those games. He's got terrible pocket presence, bad footwork, a poor throwing motion, lost velocity due to injuries last year, and still struggles with the deep ball. He'll never live up to the hype, but somebody will take a flyer on him in the 2024 draft and it'll be Manning time.

He was better than Vince--clearly smarter than Vince, too--until Fran tried to turn him into an option QB.

It was a strategic blunder by Coach Fran. Damn! I was such a huge fan of him.

I haven't seen Ewers play outside of highlights, but he clearly played well enough to beat Bama. Even though they're a little down this year, that's still an accomplishment, especially at Bryant-Denny.

Jimbo's let down last year has carried over and with the Miami loss cast doubt on his ability as a HC. Not faith. No votes. We just need to win out and stop making basic mistakes.

tu hit 3 bombs (2 TD's and 1 down to the 7 yd line, that they converted to a TD) where tu receiver was 5 yds behind the Bama defense. Bama pass defense may be worse than ours - or at least they were for that game.

The only other TD tu got was a 5 yd drive after Milroe threw a pick. Also got a FG after another Milroe pick.

Yes he was. Vince could run and that was his strength. Reggie could run as well but was light years better than 6 throwing the ball.
