A "mental bust" would explain sloppiness in a handful of plays but this looked like planned chaos. The defense was out of place or not tackling on pretty much every play.
He said " a lot" didn't he?
My point is that "mental errors" look different than what we saw. The problem with the defense was the scheme and lack of tackling technique.
That is indicative of poor preparation and coaching.
Durkin puts them in a position to fail, or at a minimum to have be a world beater on every play, which is not sustainable.

I saw a lot of physical bust yesterday as well.
You had all spring and all of fall camp to prepare to beat a medicore 7-5 (last season, worse than we were) team, and you boys got absolutely gaped, on every single side of the ball.

Hopefully bowl eligibility is possible, but who knows?
Mental bust may result in giving up 30 somehow…that wasn't a mental bust that was really as bad as it could have been. Defense did nothing well.

If you think Jimbo is pumping up us fans in the off-season, I can't imagine what it's like to be with him all the time as an athlete.
