Two significant overreactions from Saturday: Colorado and FSU

First off, I will give props where props are due: Deon had his team prepared to play out of the gate and they brought it.

But here is what no one is talking about, TCU is awful. They've lost 3 out of their past 4 games, didn't even win their conference, and lost the majority of their starters coming out of what is considered the most embarrassing loss on a national stage. I expect Colorado to win 8 games, but their schedule picks up in a couple of weeks with USC, Oregon and Utah.

The magic is already gone in Ft Worth. TCU, Tech and Baylor are all trash at the same time. This bodes well for us going forward.

Second overreaction: FSU is world beaters. No LSU was just bad and not prepared. Like TCU, LSU has lost 3 of the past 4 games and we're man-handled in all of them on the lines. They got over hyped because they played Bama on the right week last year while Milroe was still figuring it out.

BK had that Sumlin magic of being new last year. They win the west because other teams were down. Not because they were actually good.

You maybe right, but right now you are broadly overgenerlizing what happened this weekend. CU played well against what could be a good team this year on the road for Deions first test.

LSU seemed unprepared but is likely still going to be a force in the SEC. Give it a few weeks and revisit this.

The O/U for Colorado was 3.5. I guarantee you tcu was not one of those wins. So yea that was a big win. They went on the road against a team that just played for a national championship and beat them. This is a big deal. Now whether they keep it up or not, who knows. But point in trying to dog them right now.

If fsu keeps up that intensity all year I could see them giving clemson a run for the division/conference

Colorado win ceiling is probably 8 games

Saying a team can win 8 games & that the media is overreacting about a week 1 victory is not dogging the team

It's a reasonable take considering the grind of the season & the schedule they have to play

Do you remember the Ags 2014 season?

It's early. Early rankings are to help sell multiple ranked games early before viewers realize their teams are trash. Plus teams are still learning to play at game speed, and some got caught

It is always a mistake to use what a team did last season as justification for how good they will be this year (i.e. just played in a national championship). TCU lost a top flight wide receiver and a solid 4 yr starter at QB. You don't just plug in new players without expecting a drop in performance.

Lsu 1-3 in last four only win vs awful Purdue team

Mostly agree. I thin on TCU I'd gonna suck. LSU will still play really well in certain games but lose 3 or 4 total. FSU will be very good. Likely win the ACC but will not win the championship. Colorado probably goes 9-3/8-4 because it's the PAC and the PAC sucks. Could easily win a solid bowl though. They won't be an easy out and deon can hype them for the big games, obviously

TCU's defense is absolutely awful but since they play in the Big 12 they will likely win 6 games to be bowl eligible.

Lol, is the overreaction that Colorado won or that TCU sucks? It was a good win for Colorado. Doesn't mean they're an awesome team(yet) but they're worlds away from where their team was a year ago.

I don't know if you watched the CU game, but my biggest takeaway was that they have some legit talent. Even if TCU doesn't win a game this year, that doesn't take away that Travis Hunter is freakin good. Deion's kid is going to be a good QB. You can see that stuff regardless of the competition.

I also don't see anyone saying CU is a world beater, or should be in some sort NC talk. All I see people saying is that Deion isn't going to suck this year, and they are vastly improved. Regardless of if TCU is good or not, I think those statements can be made if you watched the game. It was clear CU has talent.

Not really. This is a pretty stupid thread all things considered.

Who really knows about Colorado, just too soon to tell how good or bad TCU really is this year.

But one thing is for sure, FSU has finally cleaned up Jimbo's mess. (sorry, had to do it).

TCU playing for a National Championship last year does not indicate they have a good team this year.

They have been a great program for 2 decades. Colorado was 1-11 last year. They went on the road and just outdueled tcu. What is so hard for y'all to understand? Literally no one is calling Colorado a contender. I swear some of y'all will argue the dumbest incorrect takes. We have 100 skip baylesses on here.

I don't know why no one was giving CU a shot.

TCU lost a ton from last year including the OC and the QB who had to carry them through multiple come-back wins.

Because CU basically lost their entire team.

Yeah I get that, but lost their entire 1-11 team.

I'm also not saying they're going to be world beaters but a rebuilding TCU team vs a rebuilding CU team were a lot closer than what the prevailing wisdom seemed to be.

Colorado has 85 new players on the team and only 7 guys in the two deep that were on last year's team. That kind of turnover is unprecedented. Add into the fact that many were discounting the performances of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter last season because they played at an HBCU. Didn't TCU bring back something like 7 starters on defense from last year's team that played for a national championship? The moving of goals instead of giving Deion any credit whatsoever is laughable.

Silver lining to this development is that we don't have to hear all week long about Texas being back

Not really worried about those three. Our issues are going to be with the two teams the SEC let get their noses under the tent.

Relegating TCU to trash one game off a National Championship appearance (something we have not accomplished since 1939) seems a bit premature

Even with an anticipated drop in performance, literally no one expected the Buffs to win this game. And Aggie Chad's kid actually beat out Duggan last year...

There is a bit of a overreaction to any team that plays in those National TV games.
FSU and Colorado deserve to be highly rated this week because beating a decent P5 team should be more valuable than playing a cupcake.

A few years ago, the "Is the SEC down" talk would have started because all the P5 v P5 games the SEC was involved in didn't fare too well. 1-3 with Tennessee the only win, while LSU, Florida and South Carolina losing. Maybe that starts next week if the SEC somehow has a losing record in their 5 games vs P5 opponents.

It was a Texags overreaction then, and it would be an overreaction again this year.
