Howdy! Class of 84 Ag here who finished my Air Force career in Albuquerque and settled down here.

Looking to bring my father in law, who is New Mexico Lobo Class of 72, and my 9 year old son (yeah - I started the family late in life) - who'll be TAMU Class of 2036 (Whoop!) to their first ever Texas Aggie football game.

Still working on getting tickets - but figure that, since Lobos are not a premier team and it'll be hot as heck (even with 6 pm start) that I should be able to score three tickets together sometime this week.

I am a huge fan from afar - but last two games I attended in person were when Jerrod Johnson almost beat tu in College Station in 2009 (huge game by our offense - but defense not so much - outscored 49-39) and last year's Florida game when half the team was out with the flu. Looking to start coming out to Aggie home games more often as my boy grows up.

QUESTION IS: We are staying in a hotel about 1.5 miles from campus (3 miles to Kyle Field) and would be looking to come to campus early and then, of course, with the 9 year old and a night game, head back to the hotel fairly soon after our victory.

How is the taxi/Uber/Lyft situation before and after games? Do folks typically book them ahead of time? What about other options - like shuttles, buses, etc.? Trying to avoid driving and the parking pass situation and all that.

I know it's the Zoo - so I expect alot of incoming... but hopefully might also get some helpful advice.

Thanks and BTHO New Mexico!!! (apologies to my son's granddad)

Be aware that Uber has a surcharge for busy times when drivers are in short supply. It can be enough to make it your most expensive option. Transportation to and from games can be one of those times.

Go check here under shuttles.

In years past they have had buses from the Bush school, down University, near the bank, building and also from downtown.

Thanks. Yes. I've experienced that in big cities associated with similar events. Wasn't sure if there might be alot of students looking to make bank by driving for Uber or Lyft on game days - and we would be certainly happy to help students out.

Surprised there isn't an entrepreneur who set up some kind of game day shuttle services to and from some of the larger hotels.

There is a shuttle from downtown Bryan that we usually use.

Go to ticket exchange board and find somebody with tickets and a Parking pass
If you don't have tickets and a parking pass by Tuesday I might be able to help you out.

I am going out of town and have offered them to some people but as of now nobody wants them

Be wary if using Uber or Lyft through my experience my cellphone internet didn't work to call an Uber or Lyft after the game. I attributed too many people connected to the towers. We ended up walking to our motel on Texas Ave.

Park at the agronomy complex and take the bus to the game. Been doing that for past 15 years.

I think Traffic is bad enough that it is hard to "make bank" Don't know a great deal about the fare structure but stuck in traffic and only getting a couple of fares is probably not very profitable

Rode the closest bus to campus many times for the last few years, it's much easier than trying to park close if you don't have a spot on campus.

The easiest bus by far was the one from downtown Bryan if you're anywhere north of campus. Park in the garage about an hour before, get something to eat and catch the first bus which will dump you off out side the MSC.

The 3 CSISD schools on Bush across from the golf course also do game day parking for non marquee games is a good place to park

After I got tired of waiting on the shuttle last year for the Auburn game last year, we decided to drive over from Texas Ave and George Bush, but schools were full by 4:00. Ended up at my sons duplex off of Luther (behind Brokshire Bros) and that took close to an hour. Fortunately one of his roommates was waiting on an Uber so we paid and and got dropped off at the tailgate we were heading to.

The next game we went to was Florida and shuttle worked fine, I think I was probably waiting on the shuttle the trip before a little early and it may have been running late because of all the traffic.

The easiest time we have had was staying in Rockdale and driving to Bryan for the shuttle. Can't beat free tickets and regular priced hotel especially with short notice. It didn't seem like they try to cram as many olds onto that shuttle as they do students on the shuttles around campus.

Give me a shout here if all fails. My parking is right across the street from Kyle and I roll in early AF. Would be happy to help.

I've never had any problems with the shuttles from town, I will, however, caution that my father was not happy about standing in line that long. So your dad's ability to stand around waiting as the line slowly advances is something to take into consideration.

The bus from the mall always seems like a good option for those without parking passes.

Is this still happening? I looked last year and didn't see it.

Looks like the mall is out, but there are four other gameday off-campus routes, from the link Annie shared:

Search ticket exchange forum for a parking pass. Usually you can find one for under $30.

Never thought I'd know someone who took HIMS.
