The end matters but it certainly shows the lack of confidence in our program due to last year.

Michigan and Ohio state beat writers give us our best rankings, with Bohls giving us 3rd best? Pretty interesting.

We just have not delivered. Last year Ap state debacle, a clear chance to beat Alabama, and we just could not deliver.

Pretty ballsy of the A&M beat writer to leave the Ags off his poll completely.

And was one of only five polled to place sip 7th or higher.

Not that any of this means anything at all but I had to notice...

Shows a lot of confidence in the B10 considering they got two teams in the playoffs and ended up watching the champ game on TV like the rest of us.

Is that Tulane all over the top 25?!?!

It's a no brainer to put the Horns high on any preseason list. They have a boatload of talent returning and the B12 is kinda toothless considering TCU and OU are rebuilding. My only consolation is they they usually find a way to underachieve every single year.

Yeah? They finished last year #9 after beating USC in the Cotton Bowl and they're picked to win the AAC again.

That is absolutely wild, I didn't know that. I stopped keeping up with cfb, but good for them. My best friend went there.

Willie Fritz has completely turned their program around from a laughing stock to a competitive mid-major. Crazy to think they were on life support after Katrina. They also got lucky and held on to Fritz in the offseason after Georgia Tech had reportedly hired him.

Cessna's got UTSA 25th! Dudes never played a down of football in his life.

If i counted right, 18/64 (28%) of the voters have UTSA over us. Clicks, clicks, clicks. These people aren't serious. I don't care about last year, this is about this year and we beat UTSA 99/100 times this year.

Michigan just feels bad for us because they know what it feels like to lose to app state.

If Cessna did ever play football, it was back in the leather helmet days.

Sea Speed is more a fan of Coach Fritz's daughter.

I think one year his dog (who used to be The Eagle's control picker) out-picked him for the season.

And on top of that, the sip voter ranked Texas A&M the highest out of all the voters. I don't even know what is happening now.

C'mon, Cessna. Man up and show yourself. Tell us why you think A&M is unworthy of being ranked at all. Even below UTSA. And why you think your Ohio State fetish has any merit... seeing that they still don't have a QB.

It seems there's two types of beat writers. Those who will see the best in the team they cover, and those who always see the worst. See Mississippi State's beat writer. May be the only MSU vote in the AP. But hey, he's high on his team.

Cessna can't seem to get past being down on the Ags. Just a glass half empty guy, I guess.

The good news is we always over-perform when we get no respect.

Sips have a boatload of primadonnas is what they have.

Coaches love it when journalists pick their teams to lose games or place them low in the polls. It's locker room material.

TCU wasn't even receiving votes in last year's preseason poll and they reached the title game. It doesn't matter.

All that matters is what a team does when the season begins.
Thanks and gig'em

Agree. A&M has traditionally performed better when the expectations are not sky high for whatever reason.

It almost certainly has nothing to do with the actual ranking. Most rankings are lazy and just go 90% off of the previous season.

I still can't figure out which is lazier. Ranking us #6 last year in which we had no business being even close to that high on paper, or not ranking us this year? Both are pretty bad.

This year's team is worlds better than last years on paper. Now, we have to play the game on the field. But it's a much better roster.

Back in the 80s in Houston I had a friend named Tulane who went to Tulane university and moved to Houston and started a bar called Tulane's. Ever since them I've liked their program and wanted to see them have a moment.
