Yeah, because we sucked last year, obviously we are going to suck this year, and all years going forward.

I don't know at what point I would start heavily believing for this season. I have long memories of being 12-0 in 1992 and given absolutely no chance at a national title because East coast favorites Alabama and Miami also were undefeated. But in our current day, if the Ags were an undefeated or 1-loss team, I'd likely be in the mindset that we were going to win it all.

10-0. We'd need to beat LSU on the road, then likely win the SEC Championship game. I'm not believing until then.

When we are playing in the National Championship game.

Getting overly excited before we play the Mississippi schools is foolish considering we have only beaten them both in the same season once under Jimbo.

I believed it back when I placed the bet in Vegas last month.

OP, national champion contenders? This year? Well, the only way that happens is if we go undefeated in the regular season. I mean if we lose 1 in the regular and it's almost a certainty we lose to UGA in the conference champ then, we won't make the CFP with 2 losses so I would say if we go undefeated in the regular season. That's the only real answer that makes logical sense.

You should be undefeated or at worst 1 loss going against Bama and their qb play might be the worst in the Saban era. I honestly think you can beat every team on your schedule but no chance if you play Georgia.
The trouble is, Jimbo is a really bad coach so most games will be a slog that anyone can win.

If we beat Alabama and enter Baton Rouge 10-1 with only a loss at Tennessee and in position to win the SEC West, I would consider us a national championship contender. Tennessee will likely be our toughest game because we have a shortened travel week after a grueling home game against Alabama on 10/7, and Tennessee will be coming off a bye week. I won't be surprised if we beat Alabama and lose to Tennessee.

The only way I'll ever let playoff contention enter my mind in any season is if we're undefeated or 1-loss going into November.

Realistically I think we'll be 5-0 and then lose a close one to Bama followed by a "close for 3 quarters" loss at Tennessee.

We'll follow that up by losing to one of the Mississippi schools (as is tradition) and at LSU (as is tradition).

There's a very small part of me that thinks Petrino can be the missing piece but I'm not putting my money on it
