After the historic 2022 class we lost our hot shot Director to Oregon and replaced with him some hack from Indiana named Kevin Mashack.

This is actually much bigger than it sounds after suffering the worst recruiting class in the Jimbo era. Even Brauny's articles during Mashack's tenure always mentioned the disorganization and mismanagement of our recruiting efforts. Not to mention, word has it that we completely dropped the ball during the visit with our once top QB target in Lagway.

I hope we have our sights on some elite talent. A lot of the right moves are being made this off-season.

Where is the application? How hard can it be to bring in some kids and show them a good time. This entire board thrived at that!!!!

Why wait this long? June and July are peak recruiting season nowadays. The timing seems odd.

I think his contract was up at end of April so maybe we're just now hearing that they didn't renew.

Nonetheless, I hope Jimbo and co. have had their sights set on who they really want and that it's someone we can be excited about.

Sounds like whoever hired him was trying to turn him around and then he made a mistake so egregious they canned him on the spot. No other explanation for the timing

Well…that was a leap of speculation based on very little substance. But you might not be wrong. If employed by the university which is required for interacting with prospective student athletes there is a more transparent but slow hiring process. And we don't always see that kind of information publicly.

He should have been fired on the spot last year after he screwed up the official visits for the BBQ because he wasn't aware of the rules.

Best news. There were little pieces of info that have trickled out from time to time that we just weren't hitting every note on visits. Read last week that some recruit didn't have a ride.
Needed better results and better attention to detail.

Probably some BMA knew a guy who knew a guy who was friends with his cousins brother in law's coworker who said he was a good guy.

So how is this not more headline news? I've been pointing this out as well as being a HUGE problem. If there has been one defining part of the disaster of the last 12-15 months it's been what a poor job recruiting that we've been hearing about. You don't just go from number 1 to out of the top 10 by "resting on your laurels", which I can't tell you how many times I heard of that BS excuse. That guy needed to go as soon as we had the initial signing day last December.

Problem is now, what good recruiting coordinator is going to come this late in the cycle? I don't know if we can fully blame Jimbo for this one, but it's got the potential to create some real issues if they don't coach these guys up this fall and we have 9+ win season. With our NIL program, I can't see how we can't go get Bama or Ohio State's guy and get back to kicking everyone's butts!

The assumptions you make are part of the problem because it becomes a system of ratcheted expectations that can't possibly be fulfilled presumably so you can lead the he hanging chorus. Maybe Mashack was the reason but hard to forget we had a 7 loss season. Could easily be the main factor for falling out of the top 10

This shouldn't surprise anyone and there is a reason we waited so long to fire him. It was not due to his contract.

Hopefully a replacement will be announced soon.

I would bet Jimbo's offensive play calling has more to do with the relative lack of success in recruiting last cycle and during this cycle. Too bad he can't be "canned."

We literally have the best NIL program in CFB to the point that King Saban has to wine about it to his boosters. Also, we as a fan base have at least $90 million reason to deserve more than a 5-7 finish. My expectations aren't "ratcheted" but reasonable to where we can expect at least 8 regular season wins a year.

It didn't help but the poor performance by our recruiting staff had a huge role in our less than stellar class.

If we had won 9+ I think Jimbo would have overcome it.

Why did we wait so long to fire him?

Agree we need 9 or more wins to recruit at an elite (Top 5 or at least Top 10) level. A recruiting coordinator can help or hurt, but I think wins is going to be more important.

I'm missing some context I guess. My memory could be off, but weren't these guys thrown in the furnace because they wouldn't worship the gods of their conquerors? Did they also eat strictly vegetables so as to not break their covenant with God by eating unclean animals? In return for their faithfulness and unwavering principles when thrown in the fire, God saved them and didn't allow one hair to be singed.

If that I'd the story of the 3 mentioned above, how does that correlate to one guy getting fired for doing a poor job? I love anything that can possibly be used to witness the one true God, just not seeing the connection.
