We just won National Championships in Cheer and Dance in Florida!

Both involved acrobatics similar to gymnastics competitions.

The recent Gymnastics Chamionship was won by OU and involved a bunch of girls from the Dallas area.

The Conference competitons prior to Nationals all had full arenas. The SEC has at least 7 gymnastic

teams plus OU. Why don't we?

We do have both Male and Female Gymnastics teams they just aren't NCAA but do compete against NCAA gymnasts periodically.

Interesting! So now we need a donor to get scholarships and travel. Like the Equestrian team!

we have had club gymnastic teams for a long time. no reason to not make it an ncaa varsity team. money should not be an issue. and no, i no longer monetarily support 12th man foundation.

The NCAA does limit the total number of scholarships a school can give. I would think A&M is currently awarding the limit. A&M has Scholarship Equestrian team instead of a scholarship Gymnastic team.

Auburn and Georgia are the only schools with both womens gymnastics and equestrian.
Gymnastics programs cost about $3 million per year plus equipment and facilities.
If we can find someone to make about a $60 million endowment donation plus more for the initial costs for equipment and facilities, we can have gymnastics too. The money will need to come from a new donor that doesn't already give to athletics and is just switching his softball donation over to gymnastics, or a donor that's willing to significantly upgrade his giving for gymnastics.
Any other scenario is a losing proposition for Aggie athletics.
I am not willing to make that donation, so I will refrain from telling other people what to do with their money.

I'm only finding a limit PER SPORT, not an overall limit.

Gymnastics is a headcount sport, meaning those on the team get a full ride.

Headcount sports are generally revenue producing sports, according to what I read. There are only 6 full ride/headcount sports: football, men's/women's basketball, volleyball, women's tennis, & gymnastics. Most of those don't seem revenue +, but that's the NCAA for you.

I'd rather watch women's volleyball vs. gymnastics. Gymnastics is subjective in scoring where as volleyball you either get a point or not. To each his/her own….

It probably has more to do with Title IX and the federal government than the NCAA. Same with NIL.

You likely have caught the central balancing mechanism for Title IX:

"For men, revenue sports include Division I basketball and Division IA football. For women, head-count sports include Division I basketball, tennis, volleyball, and gymnastics."

The two men's revenue sports tend to provide the funding for ALL other sports. Very few schools have positive revenue women's teams. All FBS schools fund much if not all althletic department spend with football revenue.

The total headcount probably close to balances between men and women headcount. And equivalency schemes iwedhips aldo are balanced by total scholarships which in headcount sports is one to one with scholarship athletes.

I e been to a couple meets at LSU. This is a big deal.

Anybody against a gymnastics program most likely has no idea the amount of people, mainly young girls, that attend. LSU will pack in 14,000 for every meet.

That is colossally stupid.

They honestly gonna try to convince people that women's tennis... women's ANYTHING... Produces more revenue than baseball???

You might want to go look at the attendance number for women's gymnastics in the SEC and across the country . They are consistently over 10,000 for every home meet. Some over 15,000

I just read an article i think on ESiPN more gymnasts come from the state of Texas than any other state and Texas has no Division 1 programs. If we got a women's gymnastics program we would probably be immediate contenders for a Natty.

We most definitely have a gymnastics team and I've seen them compete in person. Two of my boys compete in Richmond, TX and one of their teammates who's a senior in HS has accepted an offer to come to Aggieland this year….name is Jason can't remember last name….

Currently the skill level of the men's A&M gymnastics team just isn't on par with the top schools like Stanford, OU, Air Force, etc but they are trying to get there….

The last time I saw the Aggies compete was when our Enrich team level 10s were also competing….if we can get competitive with just 3-5 athletes in recruiting it wouldn't take too long before we are looking at competing with those top schools.

Gymnastics is a sport where girls peak at 13-14 years old.

College gymnastics is like an old-timers game.
